I have a Beck WSK Question

What steel did Dave Beck use when he was making the W.S.K.?
I know Topps uses 1095, and Red Scorpian Six uses 440c. But what did Mr. Beck use? :confused:
 
He used other steels as well during his trial and error in making the WSK. 440, D-2, but settled on the 01 .
 
hotrodKelley has it correct. Final version = O1 steel with gray finish.
 
I believe he also made some in 440C. Just guessing on that one.

Hey thanx guys I wanted to know becuase I want to try to make one myself. I wanted to do it right and make it like Mr. Beck did.
 
K will do HotRod..., but what size stock was it that he used? by the looks of the pictures I've seen I'm guessing he used 1/4 x 2 1/2" Stock? I got some 1/4 x 2" and layed one out and it looked too small, ordering the 2 1/2" stock tomarrow from fastenal.com and should be here on Saturday. :D
