I have a big leek problem....

My first post might as well be one in which I ask where to find a particular knife :)

I picked up the chive for a friend of mine after she lost her crappy pull open with two hands folder. Impressed me a lot with the size and the AO is just fun to open. Made me want to get another ken onion for myself to carry as I just have a small penknife on my keys right now.

nygiantsfan3342 : Where did you find that black leek with the damascus blade?

welcome to the forums! you will soon be addicted and will be entering many contests. you will then be put into a 12 step program from which you will think, "the money im spending on this could get me more knives!"

anyway, i do believe that that black damascus leek is a "creation" of nygiants'. prolly took the damascus leek and put the blade in one of the black leeks handles (either that or the boron leek :D). i dont think that they sell the damascus leek with black handles.

Jeremy is the leek expert though

I think I know. I just came to this forum to find a small EDC for my friend and now I contemplating putting down 150$ in knives to get the leek I want. Then I read that they make the scallion (the size I was looking for really) now in a frame lock. Gah.

Ah,... I hate to mention it j44, but there's no serrated blades in that picture!

LOL, I know, I know. I prefer plain edges, but I should really add at least a couple serrated just to make the group a bit more well rounded:D

I don't know what people see in these Leek things.

you're gonna like the Damascus version.

Hey 2brothers,
The damascus showed up from New Graham today, and of course, you were right. Very nice, indeed. I love it. If you see this post, let me know, just how oiled do you keep your dam leeks? I don't plan on doing the vacuum seal or anything, since I plan on using it from time to time.

Thanks,
Jon

I hit my DAM Leek with a really thin coat on 3 in 1 oil every few weeks an it looks great. However, I don't use it much at all.

That Bump took a little trip to Oupa's Outback Workshop to get new scales. It didn't work out. Epoxy doesn't stick to Akulon. Oh well, I did get a nice blade etch out of it.

This thread inspired me. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=495035&highlight=Fireball+Junkyard+Dog

wait, you did that to the blade on ACCIDENT???

I will pay you to do that to one of my knives (once I have two)

edit: never mind, reread the quote and now i get it. But still, now I know who to pay to do that.

I put a little vegetable oil on a paper towel and just wipe down the blade. Once a week or so, sometimes twice.
Nothing heavy. Vegetable because I use it to cut up food sometimes.
Just don't use anything acidic. I would worry about certain olive/vegetable oils messing with something.
I still use Superlube for the pivot, because I'm anal about that product. :)

My vacuum Leeks got the 3-n-1 oil treatment as spiralarchitect mentioned.

Sorry for the delay, hope that helps.
