Thanks to Mr Thatmguy  , I am now the proud owner of a Bog Dog :). I haven't really used it yet, but I have been taking it out of its sheath and looking at it and playing with it every chance I get. At first, I didn't like the big choil, but now, after playing with it, I love the entire knife! Now, if you look at my want list, I now want Swamp Rat Ratweiler, Rat Trap, Rat Daddy, and I'm sure I'll be adding to the list. Now, after hanging around (and not posting  ) in the Busse forums, I've decided I want to dive into the Busse arena. I'll post a review after I hopefully get to use it this Sunday.

Congrats on your score. Those are getting very hard to come by. I wanted one myself, but it looks like I'll be waiting for the promised SR-101 version.

You've got the new Bog Dog? 3/16" thick, and black coating. I look forward to your comments.

SR101 Bog Dogs are not coated.

The BD on the end was sold at the Washington State SAR Conference.

By the way, that's just dust or fuzz on that blade. Shows my picture taking skills.

Even better score! Those have not been released to us general public types yet. :grumpy:

Uh oh, time to lock down this thread ;) . Yeah, that's what I got, a SR101 Bog Dog.

The SR101 Bog Dogs are definitely available. Contact thatmguy, and he may be able to fix you up.

They have been available for some time now.

I wish those knives were mine!! :D

Those knives were sent to me because a few of us volunteered to operate a sale booth at the SAR Conference. I could only afford to get a Howling Fat. (wonderful, wonderful knife)

The Bog Dog is 3/16".

Here's a spineshot of the knives that we sold:

As far a the questions about a BD HR comparison in another thread, I don't know the answer to that one. The BD obviously has a longer blade and a flat grind, but also when I looked at the spine (comparing a buddy's HR) the RH and BD seemed to take a little bit longer to become full thickness at the tip. All of these things make me believe that the BD and RH would not be as strong.

That being said, I witnessed an amazing feat of strength by someone that purchased their RH (same thickness, similar tip) at the show. These knives never cease to amaze me.

Swamp Rat has redefined what "standard use" is for a knife. I think that if we truly knew the capabilities of these knives it would be redefined again.

Hope this helps,

Hey thanks 360, I believe the new Bog Dog will fit the bill nicely!! I kind of like the blade on it better then the HR, more flat surface for food prep and chores when outdoors. The only reason I ordered a HR was because it was thicker, but now I have no excuse not to get the BD instead. Im sure the HR is a bit stronger due to its short stubby tank like profile. But lets get serious, I think you could still beat the hell out of a new BD and it would ask for more. And hey they have a no questions asked warranty!!! I also like the look of it better, reminds me of alot pricier BUSSE!!! Cheers
