your reply goes against the grain, but it will definitely be considered....:)

they are kinda too pretty to use....maybe i'll get a CS trailmaster to use as my "beater" knife...:barf:

by the way, are black/black FFBMs really that easy to find??? are they the most common color combo???

a little off topic, but for you old hogs, i have a question.....how do i get a hog name???

join date 3/30/08, blades acquired since join date:

fatty GW
ARK
skinny ASH
CGASH
FBMLE
FFBM sage
FFBM black/black&blue
FFBM black/black

am i not even a piglet just yet???

From Boss HOG, hisself... :D

Wow, now I'm quoting myself!. . . After reading all of the feedback from the "Are you a HOG?" thread ( http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=501304 ) . . . I have posted my responses underneath my initial quandaries, in an even larger, red italicized font . . .

. . . Well, I suppose that anything is possible!!!

As we prepare for the intro of the ASH 1 we find ourselves struggling to define the term HOG. . .

Being an inducted HOG will definitely have its benefits. . ..

Could it be that merely having an affection and small collection of Busse Blades makes you a HOG?

I suppose that it could!!!

Could it be that everyone who owns at least one Busse Combat blade has a little bit of HOG in him or her?

I suppose that it could!!!

Should we set parameters on the number or value of someone's collection in order to reach Hogdom?

I don't think so. .

Should there be several different levels of Hogdom such as "Piglet", "Oinker", "Alpha Boar", and "Old Guard HOG"???. . . .

Without a doubt. . . This will have to be done. . .

Can I ever be drunk enough to figure this out on my own?

Oink at me Hogs. . . . tell me what you think!

I should be good and hammered by tomorrow night when I finally come to a decision. . . .

Man, that was a long night!!!!!

Let's drink!

Jerry
:D

.

So, with that in mind. . . Here's the protocol for the upcoming, online induction. Email both Amy-0 at info@bussecombat.com and Garth at garth@bussecombat.com and state your case or your state of mind. . .

You must include at least 3 possible HOG names for yourself.

Please make the subject of your email "HOG Status". . .

You will be notified within the week of your place in Hogdom. . . .

Good luck and Oink On My Fellow HOGs ! ! ! ! !

(Online inductees will still be inducted in the grand tradition of Hogdom once they make it to a show that we attend.)

Yes, you should.

The number is less important than the attitude ... and your style.

Tyrkon Lawson has less INFI than you, yet he is an enormous HOG! :D:thumbup:

That is one of the best looking set of handle slabs on that LE, great color. Dark and deep. I use my Le, it is my only infi till next week.

If you are going with using the least favorite (Just my opinion) I would use the Blue/black handled one.

But I prefer to use the knife I like the best.

Yours looks like it has Black Magnum G-10 scales. I'm not sure about how many of those were made but it's certainly less common than standard black micarta.

My advice is to use one of the FFBM's. When it gets too ugly send it to Ban for a full flat or convex grind, then continue using it or else make it a safe queen and start uglying up another FFBM.

New, the slabs on your LE look great. Are you having to re-oil often, or has it stayed like that since you first oiled it? If it has, you MUST give us a step-by-step, as well as a review on how the silicon has affected the grippiness of the slabs (are they more slick/oily to the touch?)

the silicone lasts longer than mineral oil, but they do dry out on the raised areas....you don't have to reapply as often, but to keep the glossy look, it's good to have a fresh coat of silicone on it.....my hand seems to rub the gloss off after handling it.....but, like i said, it lasts mush longer than mineral oil.....

the funny thing is, silicone is supposed to be a lubricant, but it doesn't really make the slabs any more slippery.....the slabs provide a secure grip, even with the silicone treatment...

hope that helps....

i'm with you on this one......i wouldn't mind using the LE if it were my only blade....but i have other BM's to use, so why should i abuse the beauty queen???
It'll chop just as good as the FFBMs but with less fatigue as it's lighter and the geometry (full height grind vs. FAT saber grind) should make it more efficient. Clean up easy too!

Plus there is something liberating in bashing on your LEs.

LE's I use:

Black on Black. It's your favorite that's not a limited edition and it will keep the "prettier" 2 as safe queens. I wouldn't use the least favorite (blue/black), as it may become trade foder later down the line for another Busse you covet.

Truth is, the LE is not really THAT limited of an edition when there are over 1000 numbered and in the hands of customers. Use that baby if you want to. I used to feel like they shouldn't be used, but now I keep the customs (especially with natural slab materials) as safe queens, and everything else gets used.
