I have a NMFBMLE and one leg

Peter, excellent, excellent post. I don't like using a glove either. I actually feel like I have less control and feel of the knife with a leather work glove on. Maybe a different glove would be better, but bare handed works for me. What you're describing sounds exactly like what my BM needs. I'm not one to say how Busse should have made the knife. He's the expert. I do know though, from tons of experience with the bad boy that I can almost feel the blade riding the large convex radius away from what I'm chopping. Now... I just have to find someone (not in the U.K.) to do the mod you're describing. Skill with a grinder, I have not. Thank you sir!

I agree with all the comments regarding grip shape, but just wanted to add that with any large, heavy chopping device, one must take it slow, think about your stance, and think each chop through. Mindless chopping can lead to legless chopping.

Think about each chop BEFOREHAND.

Sage Advice!

I like wearing gloves when using mine, especially if my hands have been sweating. I'm also always mindful of my stance when using the NMFBM. It's the BEST chopper - period! If you are tired, put it down.

I hold my NMFBM above all else....(Blue+Black hand-shaped Mags + Arctic White blade)
I too would rather chop without gloves, so I simply make para-cord D-guards for all of my Busse choppers. (Google: "Making Para-cord D-guard for knife") Plenty of "how to" tutorials.
This allows you to snatch the guard when/if the knife glances off the target..thus saving a limb.
Looks cool too.
