I have a problem... I don't use my knife!

Thanks for the replies! One of these days I will overcome this problem. For now I guess I'll just practice sharpening my kitchen knives.

Had the same issue when I first got my SM . .Just get a cheap or used blade and practice on that Sharp Maker . . keep it up till they'll shave some arm hair . . it will happen .once you get the hang of it you'll be confident to use and sharpen your baby . .by the way which knife is it?

Sounds like OCD to me.

Solutions:
1. Carry 2 knives. Use one, and keep the other for "important situations".

2. Factory edges are for wimps. :D Get a cheap knife, and practice with your Sharpmaker. In most cases, you should be able to get a better-than-factory edge on you knife with it..

Suffering form the same symptoms and resolved with the above.

According to the descriptions on the For Sale forums, they're all, "Mint""NIB" "Never Cut Anything but Air"....So nobodies using any of their friggin' knives. :jerkit:

Except me, I use all my knives. So, if you ever see a knife for sale by me and I say it's "Mint", I'm lying. :D

One to use around liberals and the other to use around real Americans.

I don't intend to hijack this thread, but all this liberal bashing really gets old after awhile. Why do you assume that liberals are by nature scared to death of knives or guns? Keep in mind that if Bush and friends had their way, we'd all be whimpering, unarmed fools running around in circles scared of everything.

People who freak out about knives and guns are most likely people who have never been exposed to them. Everyone is a little wary of something new that's potentially dangerous. Political affiliation has nothing to do with it.

The idea of liberalism embraces freedom, embraces and fights for the constitution and everything America was founded upon; at least my idea of liberalism does. Yes, I'm a liberal. I carry a knife every day and I don't give a damn who it scares.

But, back to your regularly scheduled program...

If you carry a knife that you don't use, stop carrying it. You're just adding extra useless weight to your pockets. I carry two knives and use them both daily.

My beater is a BM710 that cuts whatever needs to be cut (regardless of who's around), and I also carry a Victorinox Soldier for food, and the added tools are nice if I ever needed them.

I used to have a Vic Classic on my keys, but I never used it because it was really too small to do much good... so I took it off.

You don't use your knife because you're afraid that it will dull the blade and will not be sharp enough to use?

Please give all your knives away and pick up one of these:

Amen brother! I can't even wrap my head around the idea of buying and deliberately not using a production knife. There are knives that are clearly sculpture and using them would destroy their value, but those makers make 4 or 5 knives a year and they're priced accordingly. Spyderco, Microtech Busse, Strider and and the likes don't make those knives.

Do what works for you--use it, don't use it, just look at it. Always enjoy it (them!)
