I have a very specific set of... erm... Needs.

As stated, a ZT variant should fit the bill. However, tip-up carry with a flipper is generally not the best idea (unless you're carrying it off-handed or back pocket). Think about it... Just sayin'!
Tip up is the only way to carry a flipper.

Hi all,

First post here so hope I'm in the right section.

I'm looking for a good EDC folder but I can't find anything that's exactly to my needs.

Said needs:

• Quality steel
• Flipper/assisted opening
• Locking
• Deep pocket carry
• Tip-up carry capable
• Reasonably wide blade
• Plain edge (prefer a drop or spear point, and nothing too tacticool!)

I will consider non-flippers as long as opening is easy and positive.

Budget is up to, say, $300. Getting blades imported to this side of the pond from the States is ruinously expensive thanks to the rip-off merchants at 'Her Majesty's Revenue And Customs' but I've learned to live with it :)

Or should I go custom?

This checks all your boxes

Benchmade 300-1

There's a green / black version if you prefer. Or a tan / sand version.

I like the blue.

Agreed. A tip down flipper is when disaster strikes. The only way I would do tip down carry on a flipper is if it had a detent from hades or a lock that prevented it from opening which most do not have.

a ZT0801 would fit your needs nicely. If the deep carry clip isnt a must you should look at Reate knives. Very nice build quality and very low prices for what you get. You may even be able to swap the clip out.

How big of a knife do you want to carry? See as how you are in England a smaller knife may he a better idea and the ZT566 or 770 would work well. They also have deep carry clips that make them more inconspicuous.

Also for just over 100 there is a nice premium verilsion of the kershaw skyline on bladehq.com. Its s30v and carbon fiber

Check out the Benchmade 940-1. It has a Carbon fiber handle and an S-90-V blade. It can be flipped open and shut.

A DETENT FROM HADES, LORD OF THE UNDERWORLD.

He has really branched out since I did Classics.

Ha, in other news I have a ZT coming this way from The States, you guys are fabulous.

Yes, fabulous. There. I said it.

Back right pocket also works well.

If spyderco is easily accessible look a t the vallotin subhilt. Awesome knife flicks open quick as he'll with hole or studs
