I have a ZDP Caly 3 - Do I need more ZDP?

If its strictly for utility, no. The carbon fiber version looks much nicer, but how much is that worth to you? I mean, a carbon fiber handle is downright slow pitch for someone who has a knife with mammoth bark ivory! 
I guess there is one other model you might consider -- the ZDP Endura. It has a 4" blade. Tom Krein can do his magic on it and you'd have a much larger knife that would cut better than a stock Calypso.
As far as ZDP in general -- I'm pretty impressed. It actually does hold an edge longer than other steels I've used. But that's only one consideration among many in choosing a knife.

Not that it matters. Of course you need more ZDP!

Yablanowitz, there was a run of laminated ZDP-189 Calypso Jr (2 in fact, burgundy and black handled), knifeworks still have some black ones I believe.

DaveH, you just need another ZDP Calypso Jr, so you can keep one as a safe queen, and use the other one. This should cost less than buying a CF one (more than 2 times the price for CF, liners and a lightly modified design is quite hard to swallow for a knife which won't get used).
I have a ZDP Calypso Jr, and use it quite a bit (in EDC rotation with a VG-10 Calypso Jr and a UKPK), I can tell you that you won't regret starting using it.
Anyway, use this knife, it will satisfy you more than keeping it in a perfect looking condition. At first use it for very light work (cutting bread, removing labels on clothing, etc...), so you won't damage it, you should see by yourself that it needs more stuff to feed it's edge.

Nah. But you need to get a Jess Horn ZDP and the new Stretch.
