I started out my search with a Strider SMF but failed to find a tan dgg with a digi blade. Needless to say I didn't find it and didnt want to settle for something that wasnt exactly what I wanted for $500+. I've known about the Grayman Satu and I am considering one but I've never held one and Im not sure it really has that wow factor. Yesterday... I found out about Crusader Forge and fell IN LOVE with the one I held. My friend has a FIFP and even wanted to trade me.. for my Les George VECP and $500 . I however, was not in love with the 18 month wait list or the big price in the secondary market.

Basic things I am looking for:
9+inch OAL
Frame Lock
Tip up
Plain edge
NO tanto blades

I am willing to wait for the right one, hell I am even willing to wait for the C.F. but being rather "new" to the knife game (just a hair over a year). I am hoping perhaps some of you may be able to point me in a direction I haven't looked yet. I am willing to spend up to $700 if I really love something but would like to keep it below that if possible.

Thanks!!

I purchased a Satu with the g-10 and ti and i think its a hell of a folder for the money. You can get an all ti version now that Grayman just started making for 4 bills and i'm thinking about getting one of those also.
The ti is 3/16's thick as well as the blade. I would have Mike put a convex edge on it instead of the toothy edge it has less recurve to it. I've had hinderers and striders so i've been around some. I think for the price its hard to beat in this day and age. Some don't care for the looks of it but to each their own.
Good luck on your choice and decision.

Mikkel Willumsen makes some big folder as does Steve Ryan. Yun of Yuna Knives makes some big overbuilt folders as well. Pricey and a wait on all three.

B/M Skirmish if you can find one - a true beast.

D.R. makes blades to use, some are too pretty to get dirty but they are BUILT.

Harsey Lone Wolf - I have the larger one and you might like the smaller one - another beast of a blade.

I believe the Lone Wolf T3 (or T2 i cant remember) Will be good choice.

Hinderer XM-24 or XM-18
Kirby Lambert Sniper of Justice
Darrel Ralph Gun Hammer

There are lots of great knifemakers out there making some awesome folders....

It seems like everyone is having this itch lately.

Tank -like folders are pretty popular these days, you'll have no problem finding one that'll fit you're needs!

Thanks to everyone who has responded thus far. My current EDC includes a zt301 and a zt560. If those are tanks by any standards... I want the presidential underground bunker.

D762nato Thank you for your input on the Grayman I'm definitely consider it!

Tony8179 Thank you for the suggestions, I havent heard of Steve Ryan or Mikkel willumsen and to be honest just forgot about Yuna. Steve Ryans stuff is amazing but I cant even find his contact information to inquire about custom work.

Mctrinket The kirby lamberts are awesome unfortunately he discontinued the Sniper which I liked the look/specs of.

Thegeek574 I asked William to keep me updated on that beast....

CharlieMike- I like the HD maxx but its pretty similar to my old cuda max 5.5

Triggahappy28 I've heard good things about Three Sisters Forge I'll be looking into the super beast.

I would say the Direware SOLO V2, but I don't think it would fit a couple of your requirements. Give it a look though.

I have that urge too, but I was thinking more along the lines of that Recon 1 spear point.

Why not look into some of Cold Steel Espada series?

For some reason, I think Large Demko and Triad lock when these types of specs are mentioned . . . I love my framelocks but "stupidly overbuilt large folder" spells Large Demko to me . . .

Get on the list for this knife. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...Bearing-Frame-Lock?highlight=massive+titanium

Massive folding frame lock knife built with .190" Titanium slab handles, .25" flat ground 5160, and micro roller bearing .25" pivot.

I will document the entire process because there has been a lot of chatter recently about the IKBS and similar systems. My goal last year was to have a table at BLADE this year so this will serve as my prototype for a line of large folding knives. OK so first things first here are the plans drawn out for the knife. Blue circles represent the micro roller bearing around the pivot and the .3" tri-ring stand offs. A stainless steel hardened .312 thumb stud will serve double duty as my stop pin.

Any and all comments are welcome. Hope you guys enjoy the ride!

Most of the tri-ad folders i've had were pretty easy to close one handed but that's just me YMMV.
