I have got RAT fever.........

I think I have it, I picked it up the other day when I went to look at knives and then somehow an RC-5 ended up in my hand. I didn't have it very long, cuz it had been spoken for already by another. I thought I was alright, after all I only touched it for a minute or so, I left the shop and drove away. About 10 minutes later I began to feel strange, and then that night I couldn't sleep. I HAD TO TOUCH IT AGAIN!! I HAVE TO HAVE IT!! I went to another shop to see if they had one, they did! I tried to put it down, I couldn't. The fever set in even before I bought it. I have had literally over a hundred knives of all styles and qualities. There was something about this one though, and now that I have it I want more
I even have a Randall Custom and if I had to choose between the two, I would take the RAT. Oh I have the fever all right :D

So a few months back a fellow LEO told me that I should be carrying a neck knife so 2 weeks later I am now wearing an IZULA daily. To hide my IZULA my same buddy offers me a piece of purple string to attach it to. I am like a f$%%^^ purple string? Thinking like a total Alpha male I am like WTF.... He goes on to explain that nobody will ever notice a purple string like they would a black or OD piece of para cord. I have since been asked about the purple string once and my reply was "it was a gift from my preschool age daughter. Talk about hidden in plain sight. So the RC-3 shows up yesterday and after a half hour I decide that on the belt carry behind my handgun is the place for it. Man is this comfortable. The RC-5 BMF.....Bad MAMA you get the rest is enroute and will find itself attached to my pack. Pics to follow. At least RAT's aren't expensive as my handguns... at least not yet :D

Being a LEO why do you need to worry about concealing the Izula?

It is mainly utilized as a last ditch weapon if I was ever to loose my duty gun in a struggle. I also have a handcuff key attached to it. It has become as habitual as putting on my watch. It is with me every minute and sometimes I forget to take it off before bed....My paracord wrap is okay but not knowing how to finish the ends I sewed and melted together the ends...

I have the fever too! It's contagious. Bought the RC 5 first and knew I would have to have the rest. I will finally get the Izula on Friday to complete the family.

yup it's an addiction fer sure. just by happenstance a pal gifted me an izula. had never heard of rc before that. found ya'll on this forum and havent stopped...picked up a hest. now i find myself everyday drooling over that rat pack kit thinking the rc6 will be it's perfect companion. silly really, that's how i know it's got me. have lots of knives and lots of packs and just cant take my mind off that one....but making myself wait till after the first of the yr. can't really spend the $ right now. will be heading out tomorrow for a week long backpacking trip in the ozarks. will miss this thread tho usually i'm glad to get away from all the techno geewiz of life these days. will have my izula and hest for company tho. hah once ya got one it will never be enuf!
peace

I've been eyeballing RATS and I think I need one. That's what my wife gets for marrying a gear whore. Question: This will be my first RAT blade, so should I get the RC4 or RC5 for the tactical vest? Opinions, comments, concerns?

You'll end up with both, anyway! I REALLY like the RC3 and RC4 better than any of the other larger knives. They are wonderful tools. With that said, what role will the knife play? After almost 20 years in the Infantry, I've never needed a bigger knife than the size of the RC4. On the other hand, I like to have a bigger one for general camp chores when in the woods.
