Hello all you ‘hawk lovers!

Well, it’s been a few months now since I started throwing ‘hawks, so yesterday I figured I should find new distances to throw from. After a bit of trial and error, I got them to stick accurately and consistently at a new distance. My previous distance was about 19’, I am proud to say that I am now throwing at 32’. I have to say that it is actually easier for me to throw at this distance then at the shorter distance. My accuracy has improved and I stick ‘em every time. Once I figured out the mechanics of throwing at this distance I called my friend/throwing buddy outside to give it a shot. His first throw, THUNK! After working out all the bugs, he is now throwing consistently at this distance. What is the maximum distance you have seen or heard of someone throwing at? Andy, If I make an mpeg of me throwing, can you put it on your site? It can actually be a cool part of your site. People can see different mpegs of customers and friends throwing ‘hawks. Just an idea. Well, that’s all for now. I just wanted to share my new success story with you guys. My friend and I get all excited about this stuff and then we have no one to share in our joy(we are the only ‘hawk lovers/throwers that we know of) I would love to hear any comments. Take care.

Congratulations Louis!!!! Sounds like you are throwing from a 2 spin distance...I believe from our last discussion on the subject that you are including a step in your throw mechanics to generate some power....many throwers do that, including me for the 2 spin and greater distances.

Tomhawks can be thrown from 3 and 4 spin reasonably accurately....beyond 4 things can get dicey.

I would LOVE to get an MPEG from you. Contact me off line and we will go over the details!

Andy,

Yes we are throwing with two rotations. I can throw standing still or with a step forward but I preffer the step forward. It just feels more natural. 4 rotations!? WOW that is some serious distance. What is YOUR max distance, how about Bobby? I am sure I will get there some day, I didn't think I would ever get to two rotations and then it just happened. Well, I sent you an email about the mpeg so I will talk to you soon. Take care.

I have been out to 3 and 4 turns which, for me, is around 44 and 52 feet. I can't go any further without getting on the other side of the garden fence. Mind you that accuracy is pretty rough from these distances but when you stick that 1 out of 3 or 4 throws from there you just skip to the target to pull'em out.

Bobby,

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Hopefully one day I will be throwing with 3 or 4 rotations like Patte Gauche does. Bobby, at the competitions what are the events, how many are there and how does scoring work? Are there winners in different events, or is it an overall events total?

Check out my site at www.brantonknives.com and you should find answers to most of your questions. We will generally have approx 30 throwers at each event, but it is still gaining popularity.
