Bobbie, will BC have to take apart the Tomcat to coat the blade fully or will they stop at the bolsters?
I know the answer to this. The slabs have been stripped off, but there is no further strip-down available/possible on the Tomcat. It will be coated in the open position. So there will be a bit on the blade near the tang on the spine portion of the blade that will not have coating when the blade is in the closed position.

Leaving it together, as Ron said. He knows because he was consulted...
With new grips, it should look sweet.

Draxil,

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but what are you having done to the knife at bodycote? Boron carbide? I've been trying to find out who to contact to get my BM42's blade BC'ed, and haven't had any luck so far.
The nice lady's name is Ann Marie Spuller (aspuller@bodycote-na.com) or Darrell G Lewis. She'll take care of you.

Here is the pic (..yes, that one again!) of the Ti Vision after BC coating, and the NightVision with the regular blade (for now...)

:D

So will any of the other steel parts like the bolster, liners, lock and butt be coated? I can't wait to see it!! Will this void the warranty at all?

Hi Chris,

I'm waiting to see exactly where the coating will adhere. My guess is on all "outside" surfaces (including bolsters, butt, lockbar, etc.) will be coated. Anything else will be considered a "plus."

Regarding "voiding warranty," technically yes, any alterations to one's product will void its warranty. We would, though, review that in a case-by-case basis (one thing might not of effected the other).

I talked to Anne, she said it looks fantastic!
When I get it I will post pics!
It'll look small beside the Team Leader.

Thanks for the info! I love the way the Vision looks--hopefully my BM will turn out as nice. Thanks again. :)
