Hi everyone,

I haven't posted on here much. Anyway ... usually I have something that I am psyched about but lately I just can't get inspired about much (could be the weather) I thought maybe by listing what I own some of you that own or have owned many knives might be able to give me some suggestions.

Here is what I have now;
Spyderco;
Phoenix
Chokwe
Lum tanto
Poliwog G10
Red Persian
Caly 3
Para 2 black
Native 5
Salt Saver
Delica Damascus Sprint orange jigged bone
Emerson;
CQC7
Benchmade;
H&K 14205
Boker;
Pipsqueak
CRK;
Small Sebenza Ebony inlay
Gerber;
Model 525 (I should probably divest myself of this one as big fixed blades are not really something I use)
ZT;
0550 Gen 2

Any and all input is appreciated.

I pulled a change up and went from looking at mainly beefy tank types to smaller edc's. now I'm more interested in smaller knives than larger knives. Try looking at other types of folders, traditional slip joints and such. I was never into traditionals until about 3 days ago with I saw some Ohta customs.

Live on the wild side and get a balisong.

Let me add to my original post, I live in Canada so Bali-songs and automatics are kind of a no go, although I like them. I like fixed blades but, Folders are better for me.

I am interested in traditionals, I don't know a lot about them but I have been reading up a bit on them on this forum. I haven't hear d of Ohta.

You don't have a Spyderco Military, Manix or Gayle Bradley, and you only have ONE para2.
Only ONE Benchmade? I'm not understanding this one.
Only ONE ZT and NO Kershaw??? Go back and look at their catalogs. I have the 0561 and really like it but it might be a bit big for some people. You might want to look at the upcoming ZT 0566 and there are lots of interesting Kershaws coming out this year.

It sounds to me that you have more than you need. I have many many fewer knives than you have and I get by very well. My occupation and many of my hobbies/daily routines require me to have a knife. And with much less than you I, again, am doing fine. Ask yourself why you think we need more knives and you will likely figure out the problem.
Don't get me wrong, I've owned many many many knives. And for a while I was buying selling or trading knives weekly. But after a while you realize (I did anyway) that you don't really need the "coolest" the "best" or the 'newest" and you end up with what you NEED.
That being said, if you are collecting to collect, you are pretty far from a complete collection. If you want good examples of every steel from every manufacturer, or every example of good handle material, locks, etc etc then you have a way to go. Ask yourself, Why am I accumulating knives? Am I collecting for a purpose? Or am I looking for a good knife to last a life time?
I came to blade forums looking for a good deal on a good knife since I kept buying bad knives, or paying way too much for decent knives. After several years of buying and trying things and hanging on the every word from every manufacturer, fanboy or "expert" I got tired of it and ended up with a couple of good fixed blades, several good folders, a good axe, several good machetes and a folding saw. Your own experience is what matters most.
Again, ask yourself why, and go from there.

Hiroyaki Ohta, when I eventually break down and buy a traditional, it will be one of his wharncliffs.

Thought about the Gayle Bradley, that one tempts me the most right now. I also like the Vallotton but for some reason I am on the fence with that one.

The 0561 is likely a bit big for me, same feeling about the Milli, I like them both but probably woundn't carry either.

I know nothing about Kershaws (other than ZT) and I haven't read anything on the 0566 but I love ZT. Thought about a 350.

You can also take a gander at Dalibor's Sirius or Regulus here on bladeforums.

That's a well thought out reply and undoubtly good advise. I have thought about it, and though I use a knife daily there is no doubt I don't need more than 1 or 2 to accomplish what I need to do in my day to day.

At present I collect the knives that I think are well designed while still being functional more so than super steels and exotic handles. I think of them more as something that is very artistic as well as functional.

I guess a person could collect snuff boxes or martini shakers but for me I like the fact that you can also use them daily rather than just have them sit on a shelf.

Probably still doesn't make a good case for spending money on something that you really don't need but it is better than some of the other habits I have had in the past.

I suppose that still doesn't make a case for having more
