Wow...the photobucket app makes this so much easier.
Here's a bit of evolution of my 5 and some mod pics to get ya foaming at the mouth...

I was the same waiting for it to arrive and wasted no time. Got it in the Jasco that very night!

Well...after previewing before posting, the pics came out all mixed up, but you get the gist lol...

The 5 is my favorite Becker; it's my go-to slicing and dicing implement. There's little it cannot do.

Now, I know you can't not have a 9 and, of course the 9 lops, chops and splits better than the 5, same goes for the 4. And the next time I get a hankerin' to field dress a Buick, of course I'm grabbing the 3 and maybe the 2 as well.

The Tweeners, especially the 5's little cousin the 15 all have their place as well but if I were limited to just one Becker knife but could have other knives from lesser brands in the quiver as well, that one Becker would be the BK-5.
 
I wish I could have picked up a 15, but the price hike has hit hard

I imagine that tip could bust through a joint. The white tails around here are so small, we usually just take the shoulders, straps, and hams. The inner loins are so small its not even worth the effort so most of the time we don't even gut them. So, if you're talking actual field dress, its basically quartering, then the real dressing happens back home or at camp.
If its a buck I guess beheading would be in order...chop chop!

Worth the wait,
I waited too long but my needs and wants were not focused on the 5 even with cliches and the amazing mods by others, then it was time about 3 years or so after being introduced to my own special beckeritis disease, as you yourself have been infected, sorry no cure as all will atest, Turkey Day 2015 was coming so a New Knife Needed a Reason to get my first 5, long story short my 5th is in the mail as my son in law walked out with my Ka-bar 5, today wife noticed it was gone (a very good thing) she liked the 5, also the 11 as it opens bottles, the Kukri's scare the shit out of her but she does like the shiny 1, another good thing. A great start you are going exactly opposite of what I did, hopefully you get your disease under control, good luck with That and enjoy your 5 when you getter in your Hands
