Both are great. The 711 is good for straight up abuse. The R6 is a fine knife and just feels good. It reminds me of a big RMD.

It is a big RMD with top guard... Very well balanced (711 is slightly blade heavy) and comfortable in the hand.
And there is a very nice R6 out there, without top guard (thumb ramp like RMD and M series) with red/black G10 handle scales... Very nice specimen, wouldn't you agree DB?

I'd vote for either the 611 or Boss Jack....

Yep, I happen to think that is an excellent specimen. Might be tough to use that one.

711 if you like Res C and R6 if you are a micarta guy. I prefer the blade grind on the R6 myself and the feel of the 711. Both great knives.

 

[Hindsight]

If you are planning on doing a lot of chopping the Res C is an awesome handle. The R6 is also a great blade for all around use. Get both and then choose.
