I have some thing to show you guys, a hard core mini gas forge. I've been scouting the web for to yeas and when i found this i snatched it for 200$. I took it to an industrial propane specialist here in Sweden and the burner heads are still made. The one that was on was in good condition so i kept it. I've put a 2 bar regulator on it but it can be upgraded to a 4 bar if necessary. Im broke as a joke and have no money for gas so i will have to wait a week before i fire it up.

I'm broke as a joke and and my first baby on the way so i cant afford to by propane to fire it up. But i thought I could inspire someone with the pictures. :)

Very neat forge. Talk about heavy duty! I'm curious if the central chamber is a sleeve, surrounded by wool. How about a picture of the back end of it?

That has a cast refractory chamber with a wool jacket around it. Very robust. It will take a while to heat up, but will maintain temperature well. Good buy peppen.

Maybe put a pyrometer in there. There is good thermal mass so heat treat will be quite good.

As much as it hurts to run a forge with nothing in it, allow the forge to come up to temperature before you start heating the blade. After about 15 minutes of running on high, the lining will glow and the forge can be turned down to keep a very even temperature. A blade laid in it after that happens will heat up evenly.

I love it!

Old stuff like that was built in a day when planned obsolescence wasn't even thought of. Build it right and build it to last.
