As the title says, I have this

piece of A2, it is roughly 9" stem to stern and 3/16" thick. I was wondering what type of knife would best take advantage of this piece.
Any feedback appreciated.
Thanks for looking!

At that length, you could make a decent sized skinner, or hiking knife.

I think a couple of hawk heads could be cut from that. Make pie cuts and they'll be small spike hawks.

Yes a large ulu for cutting up your elephant !! Or put a handle on each end for an Italian 'mezza-luna' [half moon veggie chopper].

Umm the Batarang is far from a fantasy design, in fact it's really quite practical... depending on your line of work.

If you are a fictional superhero, perhaps it could be practical.

I believe you could swing a hunter out of that, no problem. Of course there will be some waste. If you're looking to use all of the steel, then an ulu would be a great choice.

I like the idea of making several pie-piece shaped cuts and making hawk heads. That would be my choice.

You could also try and make a small full-tang hawk from it, but the head would be small.

Do a lay out on paper , draw some up papers cheap ,keeping in mind the 3/16 as to what it will be for..you should be able to do more then 1 at 9 inches long looks like theres enough ...
Have fun keep us posted.

At the risk of derailing the thread, I must point out that there is a clear division here between those that don't believe Batman exists, and those that know better.

In the interest of avoiding pointless controversy, I'll offer the following additional ideas:
1) that will easily make a serious 3-4" outdoors knife if laid out properly. Grind it high and flat so you can get a decent edge and lose some weight.
2) If you like stick tangs you'll have more layout options as less handle will be required
3) Batarang

Its a little wide for a head (round ) knife as used in leather working. You could if adding a tang to it make to half round leather cutting knives out of it or cut it down a bit and make one bigger one which would be great for skiving. Ofcourse 3/16 is a little thick for that application so you would be removing some metal.
