I have to clean so much...

It seems like even if I don't use my large 21 for a while, a few days after carrying it I'm cleaning it because it feels gritty, like sandpaper. Is the grease they sell crappy, or what's the deal?

Lol. No! I use it and put it in a dresser drawer with my other knives. It's the only one this happens to, since I bought it.

I experienced this when I switched to an oil-type lubricant - it just attracted too much particulate to the pivot area. I took it back down, cleaned it, and greased it with the CRK fluorinated grease, and haven't had any such issue since. Where and how much are you using it? I grease the bushing, washer tracks on the blade, and detent ball track, work it around a bit, and it stays put.

Never had an issue with either of my Sebenzas feeling gritty. You would think it would be the other way around, feeling more gritty from being carried instead of being stored.

Never had the problem. I actually very rarely take mine apart and clean. Usually just some exterior oiling blade and cleaning away some lint.

Mine seems to always run dry. I just took it apart and cleaned it and it was almost dry. The grease had clumped up on the outter part of the washers. It's smooth again, but who knows for how long. I don't mind cleaning it, but the grease is expensive and I feel like I don't have much left.

The fluorinated grease that CRK uses/sells is a good quality grease. I've also used white lithium grease. I'm sure there are other good quality greases out there that others use, I'm wondering what type of grease are you using that it clumps up after a few days of non use? I've never seen grease clump up like you're describing. Sounds like it may be having some sort of reaction with something else you may be using. Don't really have a clue. Also keep in mind, it takes very little grease to get the desired smoothness. I've over done it before and had issues with the knife actually becoming stiffer upon opening, never experienced a gritty feeling.

It's crk grease, I bought it when I purchased the knife. I'll try some other greases. Recently used a Teflon based lube on my spyderco. It's not a couple days that it clumps but over a few months I'm talking. But a few days of use after a month or so of sitting and then it gets gritty. Does the grease just need to be enough of a coating to make the parts shiny, but not enough to see? I don't put it on thick but enough to see and have some in the perforated washers.

Yes, I've taken them down from CRK and can hardly tell there is any type of lube on it at all. Very little will go a long way, and like Gull wing suggested, you may need to blow it out with some air.
I've also noticed that if I clean the blade and water get into the pivot area, it feels sluggish when deploying and takes a couple of opening times before it feels smooth again.

Flush it with brake cleaner and then blow it dry with compressed air.
1 small drop of Marvel Mystery Oil(MMO)on each side of the blade(use a toothpick for this)and your set.
Been do'n this for 14+ years with my Lg std BG-42 Seb.

I can put mine together dry, toss it in the bay for a month and it still won't be gritty. Something sounds odd. It's pretty simple mechanics here.

The cf is an entire scale, from knife art. I've never sprayed cf with brake clean before, so figured id ask before taking the suggestion. Next time it gets gritty I'll blow it out with air.

Mine is the plain sided, and has been used from gut'n game to scraping gasket material.
Doz make a fine steak knife also.:D
Best EDC folder I have ever owned and I'm 63yo.
