Yeah, it was a stupid idea but according to Google it would work. At any rate I have come to the conclusion that bladeforums isn't for me, too much trash talk if you don't tow party lines like you can't sharpen cpm steels on waterstones. The edge I get on some of them sucks but I can tree top with my banter and it was done on shaptons. At any rate I will just fully move on to reddit and Facebook groups.

They’re not. They’re just some guys who knew something you didn’t, and wanted to be funny about it. No big deal around here, happens all the time. I’ve done it myself.

Some of them are pretty knowledgeable in knife matters, by experience. Don’t get me wrong, there are a few consistent a$$holes here (outnumbered actually by inconsistent ones), but even some of them have posted things I could learn from.

Learning more about knife stuff is important to me, so I can overlook a certain amount of a$$holery in the process. I invite you to do likewise, and focus on the long game.

If this seems like a scary place, things will only go downhill on Reddit and Facebook. At least the folks here step outside occasionally… I’ve found that the vast majority of redditors lack even a lick of life experience.
 
If a little poked fun drives you away the other places will be too much for you as well. I don't really see to much fanboy stuff around here. Some people take the Busse guys more seriously than they are, in my experience they are some of the best people here. I don't use bench stones and I hate Medford knives(and Medford) and nobody says anything to me about it.
 
A little ribbing isn’t a bad thing, but it does stink when you’re the target. No one attacked you or went hard. You learned something new today, that was provided here and not google. It’s a great community but you’ve got to learn to roll with some punches.

I slipped on ice twice today and busted my butt. The whole crew laughed at me. I didn’t pack up and go home though. It was embarrassing for sure, but stuff happens. It’s all about how you rebound. Taking your ball and going home reflects poorly on you, not Bladeforums.
 
You do yourself a great disservice if you think the depth of knowledge on Reddit/FB comes anywhere near the offerings of Bladeforums. Yes, there are more opinions here to more than muddy the waters, but the deep truths lurk beneath that murky surface.
