At Blade Show 2015 I got the honor of holding and playing with a Sage concept design with peel ply carbon fiber handles and compression lock. It was amazing, I really hope this knife does not stay only a concept.I personally love the compression lock and can't wait to see it on some more smaller 3" blades like the PM3 and Sage series.

Wow! That is three knives with 3" blades and compression locks on the horizon. O Man!

I too am glad they're making smaller knives with the compression lock. Will definitely pick up a Sage 5 (if that's it's name), the upcoming PM3, and the other upcoming Lil' Temperance 2.

I figured a compression lock Sage was only a matter of time. The PM3 and the Sage, oh wow!!

I've been wondering if there was another Sage on the way.

And IMO the Compression Lock is one of the best locks on the market.

I hope it's in something other than S30V. It sure sounds like a winner! Looking forward to it.

The Sage will most definitely be in S30V since all the Sage knives are S30V. But the PM3 could be different, I know the Lil' temperance 2 is VG-10.

I wouldn't bet money on that. The Chaparral was S30V and then switched to XHP. Both steels are in good supply, but it is not like S30V defines the Sage's.

I'm not saying it's not possible...But the great thing about the sage series is that the blades are the same between each one and mainly only the lock changes. Would seem silly to me to change it now. Being a fan of both steels either way I'm buying one.

The blades aren't the same, esp. when factoring in the 3 and 4. Just because they look similar in the blade part, doesn't account for the differences in the cut for the lock geometry. Each blade has it's own laser CNC program most likely, and the sheet of stock doesn't matter much.

I think he meant the blade shape itself is like a constant amongst the Sage series... not that they're actually identical and interchangeable.

It's only a matter of time before this one comes around!
S30V would be fine by me...

Fine with me too.

^^ yup that's what I meant.. Can't wait for this to come out.

I'm wondering if the carbon fiber is the only scale material they are gonna use. I'd go for some G10. :D

Last rendition as Sage 4 was in bolstered wood, to Al Mar.... Shouldn't this next one be in FRN, to Spyderco?
I'll vote for burgundy fishscale.
