I hereby issue a challenge to Jack Black.

Excellent Thread!

NICE!!!.....Onya compadre,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,FES

I resemble that remark.

Jack, what type of KNIFE do you envision finding for the Meaky One?

Those are pretty broad parameters, so I guess I'll just try and find something interesting Charlie.

I am also undertaking a number of other quests for other forum members.

Whatever the end result of this quest I do wish I were there in the search. But because thats just impossible I can't wait to see how it goes. Jack always documents his adventures so beautifully. May the fun of the meako knife quest be fun and successful.

Chris

Thanks for your kind words Chris, it would be good to have you along :)

Well I guess that tin came out of the ground somewhere! And I know Meako has enjoyed some happy times in Cornwall! ;)

Nice knives Meako. I had a few William Rodgers knives like that as a kid

Extra pic of an old Sheffield knife which was in my pocket yesterday :)

Various William Rodgers patterns are still made, but their price new, would exceed the limit.

Likewise, Arthur Wright's do a special-order Lambsfoot with covers of ancient Cornish yew, but again the price exceeds the limit.

(And No I'm not going looking for them for anyone else! :D)

I'd say that no Australian should be without a Joseph Rodgers 'Bunny Knife', but there are probably far more of these in Australia than in England (I've had my eye out for one for several years as it was the knife my grandfather carried)!

I suppose another obvious choice would be a Kangaroo set! ;)

Thank you Charlie, Meako - why lock it down?
Pupate Duncan, the thread is going to pupate.

Reason 1-I don't want Jack gallivanting off with my money burning a hole in his pocket and buying the first touristy Sheffield knife he gets his mitts on.;)eeerrr I mean he's a maestro and needs time to seek the muse.
Reason 2-Subtle reminder from the overlord to keep it knife related .
Reason 3-Its got 6 months to run. If we could steer clear of mentioning the ashes test for a while it might be OK.

When I can knock something together out of a few old Foster's cans?! :D

Don't forget the exchange rate- 1 pommy dollar = 1.8oz dollars- so almost double-ie my 60AUD (variable and negotiable if something really good comes up) is only worth a measly maybe 35quid.

Yeah, I just looked it up, £33 or thereabouts. Looks like I'm going to be losing a lot of shoe-leather ;)

The car-boot sales and some of the flea-markets are closed until April or May now.
