LIBRARY HOSTS SCHRADE KNIFE EXHIBIT, GALLERY TALK
ELLENVILLE - The Ellenville Public Library & Museum will host a Gallery Talk by Richard Langston about the Schrade knives in his personal collection that are currently on display at the Library. The talk will take place Tuesday, January 31 from 6 8 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
The exhibit, drawn from Langstons extensive collection, showcases the fifty-year period that Imperial Schrade was in Ellenvillefrom 1956 to the factorys closing in 2004. There are also examples from earlier times, representing production of Schrade knives in the greater Hudson Valley.
Also included are disabled automatic displays, original 1950s knife display cases with Schrade Walden original jigged bone and pearl handled knives, as well as an original WWII 50th Anniversary Commemorative set. Some examples were used for display within the company, the handles crafted from brown stag on one side and white on the reverse so that the buyer could see both options.
A highlight of the exhibit is the cornerstone from the Ulster Knife Company. Also on view are examples of knife making materials.
The exhibit will be on view through mid February. Gallery hours are Monday Thursday 10 8 pm, Friday 10 5 pm, and Saturday 10 3 p.m.
