I just acquired an old "beater" of a Case knife.

Check this out. I have a Dremel, and I started steel wooling the handle and then buffing out the fine scratches with a buffing wheel with my Dremel on a low speed. I am posting a before and after. I will continue this process until I have a mirror finish again.

Very cool pics! Keep them coming, please.

Good score on that knife buddy. Looks like it's starting to clean up nice, too. If you want a good, inexpensive, and user-proof sharpening system, take a look at Lansky's Turnbox Crock Stick Sharpener. I think I paid around $14 for mine, and it keeps my knives super sharp. I'm awful at free hand sharpening, but a couple minutes on the crock sticks and knives get so sharp you can't hardly look at them without getting cut. :)
Helpful hint with that sharpener, I have an app on my phone that will tell me when something is level, so I use that and some playing cards to get the sharpener level to get more consistent results.
