I just cant get into AUS steel!

It's important to sprop your knife blades when they're this grade of steel. Many times, an edge will get a slight roll to it after being sharpened and people think the steel is just crummy at holding an edge. Stropping it, however, will solidify an edge and it will stay sharp much longer. People also want to put such wickedly sharp edges on AUS8 blades (simply because they can), and razor edges just don't hold as well, either.

Sometimes I just use my jeans to strop a blade, though a leather strap is much better, but to just sharpen it and use it will often make it dull, especially if the sharpening angle is less than about twenty degrees. This will shave your entire arm, but that's not what I want out of an edge.
