I just can't love the griptilian, anyone else the same way?

LOL! Good one!

Hey, keep in mind that this guy broke the blade on a Buck 110 just handling it. If I was him I wouldn't dare touch my penis!

I broke the blade digging bark off a tree :p I wouldn't be shocked if the heat treat was off though. I keep meaning to send it in.

I meant to say that although the blade is broken, holding the knife still feels pretty good. not that I broke it just by holding it haha

Yes, for the materials, and if you're a member you'll get $17.50 back making it around $150 or so, it's a good deal. At $80 bucks for the knife, how much are after market scales going for? You're breaking better then even with the steel.

So yes, that's a great price, imo, ymmv

I always liked the griptilian, but I began to love it after seeing what it was capable of when I saw the video on YouTube by virtuovice. Do a search...I believe the title is awesome griptilian 2. If that vid doesn't make you appreciate it more, then I don't think anything will.

I have both the Griptilian and the mini Grip. Both are nice knives, but (it almost pains me to say this) I like my $20 Kabar Dozier better than either of the Grips.

Had a 550hg gave it away to a friend because of hollow scales. Think i jumped the gun, should of just got new scales for it. But....... I absolutely love my 556.
Btw mromeo great you tube video. Been following virtuovice for about a year. Nice call

It's the grip that makes the Grip feel cheap . :D

I've never owned one, but handled them a few times at stores. I seriously love just feeling G10, and I can't stand those grips. It really bothers me, because I'd like one, but I can't justify the automatic mark-up for custom scales, especially from Wilkins (even though those are oh so sexy).

That's why a deassisted Volli is on my wishlist.

I carried a mini-grip for a number of years and my only complaint about it was the plastic scales. Over the past couple of years I've bought a few newer Benchmades and they make my old mini-grip seem pretty blah, because of the scales and also because the mini-grip is very stiff compared to newer models. I have specific blade styles that I like and I find that the full size grip has a blade that works for me and the knife is the size that I like now, but the handle doesn't look as interesting to me and I still don't like the plastic scales. I should have bought one of the M4/G10 or D2/G10 versions that was available not too long ago, but I didn't. One of those knives might have turned out to be as good as any of my current favorites.

I feel the exact same the skyline has a special way of finding my pocket. Great blade shape and steel. Compact, light virtually invisible. Especially since I got it a new clip.
Regardless of how much I want to love my grip it just doesn't fit me/ my hand.

I prefer the mini grip but if your hands are large you won't get all four fingers on the handle. Aftermarket scales will transform either knife but they aren't cheap.

Like most everyone who doesn't like it said, it feels cheap in hand....that and it isn't really THAT grippy bc of the cheap material.

I had my grip for about three years now still couldn't develop any interest. Feels like a 30 bucks knife but i paid 110!

The normal grip is too wide and hallow feeling which makes it feel cheap. The mini grip feels great, but its handle is to short. It would be nice if they could make the mini-grip with 3/4" more handle length.

In my opinion they are over priced. They seem to be the introductory stepping stone Benchmade for most people including me. I didn't like either of them so I haven't purchased any other benchmades. From a business perspective this is a big problem and these feelings are becoming more popular so they (griptilians) either need to be changed or replaced.

I could never get past the cheap plastic handle feel, I tried with a Ritter but dumped it, always felt cheap every time I picked it up. $100 for a full size Grip and $90 for a mini now is ridiculous, and I refuse to spend $100+ for G10 handle scales for what should be a $60-70 knife to start with.

You can get an S30V manix2 with G10 handles and liners for $80, a PM2 for under $120, and a wealth of other 154cm/S30v options for less money and get G10 handles and liners. When you could get them really cheap they were a good lightweight cheap knife option, but now, not even close to worth the price.

Its too bad that some high ups from BM most likely won't read this... I haven't been here long but I can tell already this should be a vast resource for knife producers too hear direct feedback from people they want money from. When I see posts from company owners and spokespeople here it makes me WANT too buy their products, because how many other products would you get that from.

I love the Grip. The feel of the handle isn't something I care about. I like the FRN for its weight (lack of), strength, and abrasion resistance. It's tough, good-sized, doesn't show wear, and is easy to carry. Pretty much always have it clipped on me, even wearing basketball shorts. I never really know its there. But others will have different opinions.
