I just couldn't hold it off any longer...

You have one helluva hobby. If I ever dig up anything half as cool as this stuff with my 14, I'll be a happy camper. Tyke moar piks.

Thanks! I do have a lot of pics, and I can take lots of my collection but I think I would co too much off topic, and the mods might not like that.
Anyway, I do have some pictures of Triassic shark, fish and reptile teeth (dinosaurs and others) on my web page on this peculiar fossil fauna from the south of Belgium: http://rhaetianlorraine.webs.com/
That's just some of the finds of one locality, though. Hope you enjoy!

If anyone could tell me where it would be an appropriate subforum where I could make a thread on parts of my collection, I'd be glad to do so. I could link to that thread in this one, so all of you guys can find it. Please give me some advice on this people, and I'll make it happen. It seems that there is some interest in it, and I would be glad to share it.

As I said, it was mainly very soft chalk. Whenever pressure is being exerciced on the chalk towards an inclusion (such as a fossil), it gives aways and turns into small grains of dust. The grains of chalk are so small, that their abrasive capacities are slim. Hence, the tip is still very pointy and did not need any sharpening at all. I could not feel any dulling of the tip with my fingers either.

Congrats on the 14. Awesome pictures. Love to see the 14 getting dirty doing something cool.

This is a great and unique thread. Thanks for sharing! And perhaps you can update this still. It's really interesting. Thank you sir!

So, I heard you guys liked BK14s and fossils?

And I also heard you liked pointy things...

This thread is awesome! I must have missed it before somehow!

I love archeology, always dreamed of donning a Stetson and being Dr. Jones when I grew up LOL

The size of those teeth relative to your 14 in that first pic! Wow! Back then they came standard. Nowadays I have to order sharp stuff that size off the www. Again, wow!

Well, I hit the same quarry again today and I was a bit more lucky...

After more than 5 years of visiting this quarry, I got to find my first tooth of a Mosasaur!

The BK14 was present again and helped doing the finer preparation work when I was getting the tooth out of the rock.

No pics of the 14 though, I was too excited to get it out of the chalk so I was not in the mood of stopping the prep to take pictures and repeat ad infinitum ;-).
Anyway, enjoy guys...

Hey man, this is awesome! And we love pics!

If you are worried about being off-topic, just prop your 14 up next to a fossil you are gonna dig out. All of the sudden you have an awesome and unique Becker pic!

All I have is a BK2, but I want a 14 really bad. This doesn't help. If I buy a BK14 will I turn into Indiana Jones? Dr. Grant? That would definitely help me justify it to my wife.

More like Ross from 'friends', I'm afraid ;-). You wouldn't regret buying a BK14 though.

Well then, Becker and mosasaur tooth it is! Because I like you guys so much, heh.

WOW, that is so damn cool. i have not even heard of a Mosasaur but i don't even care.... thanks for sharing. pls keep em coming. I love this thread. :)

This is awesome! I love Beckers (Even though I have only BK2 and a 14 on the way) and Dinosaurs and Fossils! Such a great Thread! Subscribed!

Thanks for the kind comments guys. As long as there is demand, I'll keep up the supply!

Here is a picture of one of the trays filled with fossils. This tray consists of the smaller fossils that I found in the Limestoen quarry mentioned above. The mosasaur tooth already got its place among shark teeth and fish teeth from the same era (Cretaceous - Maastrichtian). The Mosasaur tooth really dwarfs even the largest shark teeth that I've found from this specific era (There are larger species of shark in younger eras, though).
Finds are very scarce in this quarry. There have been several occasions on which I came home with no shark teeth at all. Of course there are other fossils, but I mainly specialise in shark teeth, so... I leave usually leave the invertebrates at the spot for other collectors (unless it's a really nice sea urchin or something, but they are in another tray).

This thread is always interesting and educational too! Will look up that Mosa-something-saur later hehe :D

Had a nice fossilhunting trip today. Used my Becker to clean the stratigraphic profile for the pictures, for future research.
Not a bad hunt either, several hundreds of teeth. More pics will be available in W&SS campsite/gear/...-thread
