I just got a Buck/Strider 882 SBTG

Yes, the difference between what I have & the other 882 is the torx screw construction & G-10 scales. "Winz" mentioned that the 889 has thicker liners, but I had 2 different 889s & 2 different 882s (TACCOM scales) & my current 882 SBTG's liners are as thick, & possibly thicker than the ones on my 889s. This 882's scales measure about the same as the Spyderco Sage I just got (Not that that really means anything).

The bottom line is these knives are very nice. The TACCOM 882s were a steal for $40 at Cabela's, that's for sure. I believe the 882 SBTG originally retailed for $180 or so. Either way, I think all of them are great knives for the $.

I wish I found out about this knife a few months ago. I just looked on Cabelas and they are all gone. I prefer the torx model but for $40 I can't complain.

The 889 SBMF had the thick liners and TACCOM scales. The 882 SBT and 887 had the thin 'Police' liners and TACCOM scales.

The 882 SBTG is different from all in that in had a torx screw construction, the thick liners, G10 scales and with the ATS34 blade. ie pretty much the best of worlds (with the exception of lack of plain edge option :p )

iirc, as you mentioned, the 882SBTG CMT used to retail for about $180-190. Next on the price scale was the same as recently sold at Cabelas for $40...and retailed for $140.00. Then followed by the not too common 887 which retailed I believe for $110.00 and the 889 SBMF retailed at $90.00...

Of course...actual sale prices were much different usually...

Thank you, winz, for the all the info. I know I've read some of that before, but just didn't recall, lol. As you said, the 882 SBTG is one heck of a knife, especially for the price I got it for, & seems to have all the "better" components all in one knife by Buck.

Again, thank you to everyone for all the input, I appreciate it.
