nice haul........ all great gear!

Im interested in the sleeping bag.

Got a link to it?

Nice start indeed.
If you are married or have a G.F. one tip of advice....
spread the packages over time.
Say one package a week, 3 on one day raises here alarm.
You need to spread the purchases over the weeks.
Another tip. Withdraw cash one the beginning of the month so you can bill your purchases in the beginning of the month and pay cash in the last weeks so they don't lower the saldo too much in the last week of the month.

Water system.

First off, of course a goyot and cup for storage, boiling etc.
The camelbak bladder is REALLY nicely constructed, I'm impressed. I havent gotten into the mini-kit yet.

Lets take a look at the filtration setup.
Unpacking the Aquamira Frontier Pro filter.
It comes with a bunch of replacement pre-filters in a baggie, and about 8" of plastic tube.

Here it is, platy bottle plugged into one end.
With the output plugged into the camelback hose.
That connection is a little looser then I would like, but I think it will work.
gear05.jpg

To plug a hose into the output you need to take the bite valve off the filter. It is a rubber housing with a plastic stopper inside. When I tried to put it back on I had a little trouble and messed up the plastic piece slightly. :(

Therefore I suggest this procedure to avoid damage when replacing the bite valve.

You can tear up the X shaped bit if you shove it on crooked.
gear06.jpg

Pull the plastic bit out of the housing.

Insert the plastic peice into the filter. Then slide the rubber peice onto it when it's in place

Hehe I'm single. This is indeed one of those times when that's a plus.
I'm probably not even going to get into the computer that just came today on this forum. :D

Plant flashcards.

Somehow I was under the impression these doubled as functional playing cards, they don't.
That was a bit of a disapointment, but I got them as a learning aid anyway so...meh.
gear13.jpg

Neat little sparklite kit.
I was going to distrubute the peice around my gear, but darned if this thing ain't cute all boxed up like this. ;)
gear14.jpg

gear15.jpg

Suunto clipper on my Timex
gear12.jpg

Tube tent.
It feels a bit like heatsheats or heavy trashbag material.
It really could use a reclosable bag...

Nice Haul!! Other than you had to pay for it all it must have seemed like Christmas came months early!

right on Joben.. that is a nice haul indeed man... you're off to a good start of becoming a gear junkie, like the rest of us...:D

Great hall Joben....If you get a chance to set up the tube tent can you takes some shots and provide a review? I'm thinking of getting one. Have shots with you or somebody inside of it would be excellent.

Thanks

Just a thought...I think the plant I.D. cards are much better with an actual picture of the plants on them than say the jack of diamonds,,,just my 02

Umm, yes, what he said.

I was looking at that site recently and came across them.

Wow, you did go all out  :D

I really like those cards, the pictures show a lot of detail (from what I can see in your pics). I'll have to look for those now :o

nice haul! camelbacks are prime... i love mine. one time in Backpacker magazine, they tested one by parking a jeep on top of it. swelled up like a balloon, but no leaks:thumbup:

you will LOVE that slumberjack bag. Once you slide into it you will realize just how amazingly comfortable it is for the price. I've been rained on in mine, totally wasted, probably 40 degrees outside and woke up without even shivering. Made a rough night alot easier on me. Compression bags they come with are a nice touch. Great for backpacking. The liner is a good idea too btw.

I'd also be interested in seeing the sleeping bag with someone in it.
The plant ID cards are excellent!
