I just got my first Ruger 10 22 rifle. I have never owned one of these before and to me I think its gonna be the perfect survival rifle. Just wanted to tell yall.

good luck with it. they are fine rifles. everyone should own a .22 and a shotgun.

If you want to play with it go over to rimfirecentral(dot)com. Lots of good info and people over there.

Enjoy the rifle.

nice score.. i have been thinking about getting a .22 for my boys to learn to shoot on...:o

They are excellent rifles, I'm saving for another one for myself right now.

If you are interested in lightening the weight and (possibly) increasing accuracy you can find kits that have a bull barrell and a thumbhole stock to go on them for around 250 bucks. The claim is they make the rifle weigh less and increase the accuracy. I don't know about accuracy because they are all pretty straight shooters to me but they definately look cool with that big ole barrell and the thumbhole stock.

They don't weigh less, due to the bull barrel but they do increase accuracy. This is one of my 10/22 after some mods that I use for .22 benchrest.

It shoots 0.29in ctc groups at 50 yards with CCI green box ammo.

Can't go wrong with a 10/22. That's what I learned to shoot on. Congrats!

I really miss my 10/22. Mine came with a folding nylon stock that made it extremely easy to pack/carry. I traded it for an M1 carbine. That was a nice little rifle but it couldn't hold a candle to my Ruger 10/22 for plinking fun at the range. I'm definitely going to get another one some day.

Nice score. I have an unmodified 10/22 that I got as a birthday gift when I was, you guessed it, 22 (this was awhile back). I have always found it reliable, easy to carry, and decently accurate.

The 10/22 is a great little gun. I'm not sure I would call it my perfect survival gun, but to each his own. They're good guns, work very smooth. I would recommend putting in a trigger kit to lighten the trigger pull, as the stock trigger is really bad on 10/22s. I think I got a sear/hammer kit for 60 or 70 bucks. Takes a while to install, but well worth it. Also, make sure you keep the action clean. I take mine apart and clean the receiver and bolt about every 500 rounds, starts jamming pretty bad after that. Have fun!

I have a 22 trapper rifle that i would be willing to give up, It is single shot all steel. I also have a bunch of SPAM to get rid of I'm looking at getting a sellers account on here. Is it worth it?

I have a Nylon 66 . Its in near mint condition. Ive shot it a few times but never hunted with it. It still has the label on the stock.

I think they are the most fun .22LRs you can get your hands on. I really love mine and it's become an old friend after the 28 years we've been together!

I don't think I'd call it the perfect survival rifle, but it's a handy and dependable .22.

Here's mine:
