My grandfather called me yesterday and told me he had a package of "steel stuff for your Knifemaking" so when I went over today, he gave me the package that his buddy sent him and it was full of precision ground 01 in 2" x 18" pieces in 1/8(2) 3/16(2) 1/4 and 5/16!!! Now I just need to figure out what to do with it... Does it need to be sent off for ht? Or can it be done in my simple propane forge?

Grandpa's are wonderful that way.

That's downright useful material.

You can send it out for HT at Peter's (with high batch fees)

Gentlemen, please confine sales to the Exchange, and do not tempt a non-paying member to sell in any case.

Congradulations on the steel, Grandpa's are the greatest. O1 can be H/T'd in a propane forge but to get the most out of O1 it needs a soak at a controlled temperature. If you'd like send me an email and I will go over the details of my H/T service. My contact info. is listed below.

Congrats!

I have done some home heat treat of O1 with a propane burner. It's fun to do but the results are pretty variable. I'd go for the pro heat treat...
