I just need help deciding - Cold Steel SR-1 vs. Spyderco PM2

OP - given your size/height, I think Spyderco Military would be a better choice than either of the two you mentioned.

Since it's going to be a user, whichever you choose, just buy second hand from the Exchange. I've learned that for users, buying second makes the most sense both financially and functionally.

What did you get?

I guess we will know and see when it is in his giant hands :p

Cold Steel 4Max! Hahaha! The pockets were a bit deeper than I expected this month, so I figured I'd splurge on a folder that would last me through doomsday. It has yet to arrive, and the anticipation grows hourly. My plan is to also grab a PM2 down the line; you guys made a strong case for that badboy. Thanks again everyone!

I don't have the SR-1. I only own one cold steel that I modded (one of the mods was to fix an out of spec pin), but don't really use. It's a fine knife (Mini Recon Aus8). I have a PM2 (modded/melted the scales) and a Military (also Manix2 and Stretch). IMO, I like the Military better, although I tend not to carry such a large blade. Since you already have a chopper, I would suggest that something for a little more fine work is missing (although, again, I would suggest the Military). Personally, I would probably pick up a Mora with the thinner stock to go with your Becker for your purposes.
