I just ordered a bunch of S7 steel!

Jackhammer steel....and they WRAP it up to ship it?!?

HowinzeHell are they gonna damage S-7?

Nevermind!

do you still have that kevlar box? cut it up and use it for scales, lol.

gotta love S7, destruction even in its raw form.

Lol if they just shipped it hardened then it would make it with no box! Of course then my knives/swords would be pretty basic, lol no holes drilled in them and possibly rectangular shaped! :D

At least this steel is straight, if I get another bow shaped piece from my other suppliers I know where to go, these guys sent me some dead straight material! I love it!

I should temper the hardness way down on a sword and sell it for demolition! Contractors everywhere would want it, couldn't you see the crew... Prybar? screw that I want a sword!

HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION,to go with your Sunday morning Sumatran coffee:

If you made a knife from S-7...and hardened it to....aww; let's just say 57 Rc...then carbidized the edge, how many generations can it be handed down to?

Since I am still enjoying my coffee I will have some fun here... :D

Answer A
S7 is about as tough of a steel as you can get so it should take a beating and keep on going! The wear resistance of S7 is near that of O1 and other comparable knife steels so it will hold a good edge but is geared towards total destruction and hard use! I use tough handle materials like G10 and Micarta, I couldn't even get a handle to budge with a 22oz Estwing framing hammer at full force... the G-Flex epoxy I use is top of the line as well as every aspect of my process, no corners are ever cut.

Answer B
Given my steels total superiority and my 2 week long heat treat (includes postal time) my knives will last forever and while doing so destroy all competitors knives. Lets Party!

Answer C
Dude it will make it through the burliest gnar gnar and still be manky. Dude... lets snowboard.

Answer D
It should last just about forever depending on how much you sharpen it and that type of thing. Keep it oiled and out of the direct sunlight (helps keep the handle material good forever) and it will last a long, long time. The carbidization is part of the steel not just a coating so it should last as long as the edge does, a long time.

Answer E
Pork.

Ummm F
Eleven.

Unless it is ever traded for a cheap production knife then a curse will bestowed on your family forever. Muah hah hah hahahahahaaaaaaa

Gonna go with "C" & "D",for now.....

Hope to do some field testing.

You are correct, the answer was C. The snowboarding part was just to throw you off, excellent job!

All kidding aside these really should last a long, long time. The S7 will handle all the tough work! I'm trying to gear these towards heavy duty performance.

On the thicker knives like the 1/4 and 5/16 there is probably nothing so tough out there. Sword breaker time! Brutal...

On the 1/8 I'm trying to make the toughest slicer out there, imagine how thin you can get such a tough steel and have it keep on going, I hope to make the ultimate slicing chopper. Nasty!
