I just spent $200

Haha thanks man. Just gotta wait two more weeks and then it's probably on to my next purchase. It's an addiction.

I have a full sized grip, and I beat the crap out of it at work every day. If something needs to get cut, that's what does the job, I have not regretted that purchase for a second.

I've dropped 200 on a CPM Cruwear military a year ago, only to eventually discover there is no significant difference between it and S30V, which I already own. So I now hate myself. I plan on upselling it on ebay to some unwitting fool.

The best thing you can do is research as much as possible with Cliff Stamp's various forum threads before buying anything and don't buy into the bullshit on bladeforums. Don't waste money on m390, elmax or s90v. The knife industry is chock full of bullshit.

For what its worth, 154cm Benchmade is a good, relatively inexpensive high wear steel, like VG-10. Definitely better value for your money than the overhyped, ultra high carbide PM steels. I find its less chip prone than S30V, which is itself very brittle, though both induce heavy micro-chipping.

That sounds like kind of a bad Karma moment.

I have horrible restraint with shiny sharp things. Just bought my first Shirogorov (ouch). It's not here yet so I hate myself and am in a self loathing pattern until I get that knock on the door lol. I guess it's true what they say, "the more you make the more you spend" (on knives). My knife collection is worth as much as my house I believe. My wife is awesome and just shakes her head. You did well for $200 I think. It's addicting for some and a give it a few years and you may be regretting a $450 sebenza purchase. ;)

I personly dont like the mini versions of knives, if i could get the normal size i will. However i also have been wanting to get a mini-grip for light carry especially while wearing basketball shorts. From talking with mini-grip owners in person they loved their mini-grip, so im pretty sure you will like yours too.

To the OP:
Don't sweat it, you will like the purchase plenty. Just make sure you give the knife enough time to break in before you judge it. With it being an axis lock, you will be playing with it enough to break it in in no time flat...

There is a lot of wrong and distasteful information here.

But that being said, he is right about one thing, do Your research.
Is it ironic that he says that the OP should do his research after giving his opinions?

I personally Loved m390 and s110v, you just need to know how to get the most out of them.

Given the same angle, blade shape, hrc, and all of the other stats, m390 will burn s30v in overall performance, never mind vg-10 and 154cm though they all good in their own ways...

Please don't mind the hijack.

I've owned knives from most production companies over the years. I'll say this about the mini-grip: it's the strongest, most functional small knife I've used, outside of a small Sebenza (which is four times the mini-grip price). The minigrip also comes with mind-blowing customer service. Enjoy.

However, I've never really needed the diamond rods for the sharpmaker. I've used them a couple of times to reprofile a few steels that are difficult to work with, but use the ultra-fine rods far more often.

So I just spent the most amount of money I've ever spent at one time on knives. I bought a mini grip, spyderco diamond rods and some tuf cloths. Ease my mind about my purchase. Will I regret buying the mini grip? Are the diamond rods as good as everyone says?

Be responsible for your own actions, and decisions. Do not count on good advice from other, as they are not spending "your" cash. If you are unsure about your actions, slow down the next time you are in an impulse buy situation.
