I just won this Buck 500

They were offered to BCCI members only and there is a limited quantity made of each model, I think 100 each. You paid more than what they were going new but not that much more and for or what you get it's a damn good deal, imo. You get a S30V BOS blade with micarta scales. Throw in a BCCI member that cost $20 and you came out just fine. I almost pulled the trigger on that and the 110, nice score bro:thumbup:

Thanks. I think the secret to successful eBaying is being sloshed. Thank god I was outbid on the 2 other knives.

lol...drunk bidding are we:D been there done that, sometimes its good and sometimes not!

You did well. Those are rare knives and will quickly appreciate.

Welcome to the BCCI. You will enjoy it.

:)

BTW, I think they still have a few 110s and 112s and maybe others of that same type and you can get them cheaper now that you're a member.

buckcustom@aol.com if you want to find out what you can get.

Again, welcome.

You did OKay. If you appreciate premium steels think of it like this...You have one of only 100 Buck 500's to ever come in S30V...ever!

I've recently been hunting for an older 500. I believe the earliest ones had micarta handles and that's what I wanted. Then I saw this BCCI model and it has micarta & S30V so on a lark I bid the minimum. I never expected to win. I'm very happy, but the wife won't be.

Four or Five years down the road, the $120 will be nothing.

An easy way to explain to the wife is that you can nearly always at least get back, what you paid, and in many cases make a few bucks profit.

That's true...if you sell your knives. I'm just gonna lift the couch cushions & see what I can find.

Just don't tell her you were sloshed too...I'd hate to see you lose the knives AND the booze...:D:p

There were some sets of those sold in wooden displays . I think Flatlander and Plumber were able to procure one as the sets were very limited . Did you get one JB ? I carry mine 3 times a week depending on what I'm doing and have used it a lot and enjoy it always . The canvas micarta gives a good grip . DM

That is not correct Gordon, the Duke 500 with honey bone and no nail nick was also S30V and made for the BCCI. I think you ment to say it's one of 100 with green micarta & S30V...ever made.

I think its a real good deal since you get the BCCI membership. The discounts you can recieve as a BCCI member will nearly pay for the knife and membership if you choose wisely. I saved about 75-80 bucks(combined) off of 2 knives from normal list though club discount. Get a lifer membership and it will pay for itself in a year or 2.

BTW I do most of my knife buying with a bit of a bag on:D My wife continuously is yellin in at me that "You better not be buying a knife" whenever I get on the puter after being out for a beer or 12.

I've never actually bought anything while in that condition before. This 500 was on my watch list & I really wanted it. I also bidded on a 111 classic and a different 500. I'm glad I won the BCCI one.

John,

Are you thinking of the Amber bone 500? If so, its ATS-34. Anyway, post a picture if you can. I was not aware of a 500 in S30V other than these micarta knives. I'd really love you to prove yourself correct.

Here is my honey bone (or amber bone 500) and its not in S30V.
