I know a secret...

if you show me the rest of the knife, I'll tell you what it is:D

Well... maybe a Silent Knight

.

Hmmm... I thought Silent Knights were .25 thick.

This is definitely .275+. How could there be a discrepancy???

Because it the prototype hand ground by Jerry. ;) :D :D

.

Wayne, you is da' man!!! ...uhhhmmmm, I mean da' HOG!!! I don't know if you already knew this or you had to do a bit research on a very rare blade, but you are exactly correct. A hearty HOG salute to your knowledge of all things pork!

I figured it was one of the two I mentioned...

Here's the Urgent Fury...

But the more I looked at yours it had a curve to the primary grind... ahhh that's right... the Silent Knight!

And then with your next clue, I remembered that the proto was on the market not too long ago. :)

Thanks for the fun... and CONGRATS you HOG! :D
That's a real nice piece of Busse history you've got your hooves on!

Oh you dog, or hog. You beat me on this baby. I was soooooooooo close to pulling the final trigger to scoring this baby.

Congrats.

As I recall, the seller said in his description that he stripped the knife. You gotta take it a step further and polish her to a satin finish.

I am not too sure right now what I am going to do with her (except KEEP HER, LOL!!!). I think I may be getting with Jerry just to see if, at a minimum, there would be any problem with Busse touching up the edge.

In regards to the finish, it has never been stripped. The wear is wear of the original coating from use. And this is something I definitely want to consult with Jerry on. I don't want to hurt the value on this at all. Part of me says to keep it historically accurate. I could make it look nicer, but I don't think I could get that original coating any more. How does that impact value and collectability??? I also do not want to hurt the logo, although I will say that the logo is a pretty deep etch. It is quite a bit deeper than say the etch on the 07 SEs or the Busse Combat logos you see on most knives. I think it would actually have to be ground off, and that it could not be blasted off. Of course, a satin finish would probably lessen the depth of the logo.

So many choices  . Heck, if I can ever get to the same location as Jerry, I would probably just take it in person and talk it over with him while contemplating the finer points of single malt scotch. Hopefully someday!!!

OTE... I'm kind of struggling with the same thing on a historic blade. It would look really nice with a satin finish... but the stains and marks help identify it as what it is down the line...

From the looks of that logo... I believe it's stamped versus etched. Look at the roll at the outer edges of the "s"

I don't think a D/C would hurt the value at all ;) It might actually boost it...weren't many of the older Busse's Bead Blasted? No matter what you do you'll have a rare piece of Busse History :D.

i say beat it!
not like you can diminish the value. it is what it is.
especially if it's for sure a keeper.
action pics i say!
