So, my friend and I were discussing "The Walking Dead", as is wont to happen. In discussing the various knives used by the characters to dispatch the various walkers in the noggin, we got into a debate.

We both agreed a good fixed blade knife is easily the preferred choice. Something 4-7" or so,and solid.

We then moved into folders. Without giving away everything just yet, this is where we got into more debate.

So.

If you were considering a folder only, as a zombie noggin-penetrator, what would it be? Parameters are that it should be readily available, fairly affordable. No heavy duty customs, just regular production items.

Your choice and why?

Readily available and affordable?

Venom green Rat 1.

It strikes me that the Walking Dead Zombies show up at the most inopportune times. Despite the fact that they are not the fast moving (I Am legend) Zombies, TWD Characters are always pushing off, holding and etc with one hand while stabbing with the other. So, materials, cost, and size aside.... One handed operation IMO is a must.

Just my $0.02

EDIT: Ditto the Rat1 suggestion. It's kind of what I had in mind when I was writing my original response.

Benchmade 810 Contego. Its a beast of a folder. I don't carry it often, but its about the toughest, overbuilt folder I can think of.

Some kind of pointy yet sturdy Emerson like the Etak-B or Roadhouse. Wave it out and proceed stabbing through eye sockets.

ETA: I know Emersons aren't really affordable. I'll second the Cold Steel Recon 1

This is actually a pretty astute observation. It's more or less what I was going to say.

Victorinox Rambler.

Sorry, there's always that one post that recommends a SAK for everything. Thought I'd get it out of the way

In all seriousness (again, ), I recommend a Cold Steel Rajah 2. It chops! It stabs! It waves! Its handle can be used as a club!

Mykel Hawke folder.

Sure, we all laugh at the design, but that tanto point and ridiculous "guards" would be great for skull piercing and keeping you fingers protected.

:)

If most of the population is now zombi-fied, does the knife need to be affordable? Usually in these types of situations, I can finally "afford" that expensive knife by taking it from an abandoned store. :P

Would have been nice to define "fairly affordable"
ZT Hinderer series
Microtech DOC or SOCOM Delta
Benchmade ADAMAS

That said, I probably would be wanting to sport around a RMJ/Winkler or other full tang hawks/crash axes of the sort if I was going to be bashing the skulls in a whole bunch of zombies

What about the Cold Steel Ti-Lite, with 6 inch blade. It looks great to use on those red eye sockets. I don't own one, and I have never faced a zombie... so it's just speculation
