I know this a forum for throwing knives but, admit it shuriken's are fun too.
Any way anyone know where to get good one's not the cheap headless nails sold on the crappy self defense buy one get one free web sites.

I placed a order with Budoweapons back in like aug-sept 2006 never got my order
 
I have a few times. He said he had personal stuff going on. But that was along time ago. He barely answers my emails
 
Yeah its sucked for him for quite a while. However, I am sure if you email him again he is fill your order.

Cold steel makes a shuriken now out of 1095. One of the only real ones to be found anymore unless you travel to Japan. Alot cheaper to get one from CS, and you'll actually receive your order.
 
isn't it 1055 / 1050 steel? didn't know they made that high carbon steel.

i thought the highest carbon steel they made was SK-5 which is 1080.
 
That cold steel star looks neat! It's over a .25" thick and is more than 5" across. I bet it thumps pretty good when it hits. I might have to buy a set of these things.

Just for the record: originals were smaller and thinner. Imagine having to conceal an sufficient number (9 were thought of as a good bet) of the Cold Steel shuriken on your body.

Nice Toy though; I wish they were still legal in Germany...:grumpy:

A good bo shuriken is easy to make.
Use 6mm or 1/4" square bar stock.
Cut into 15 cm/6" lengths.
Sharpen one end in square facets (not rounded) about 25 mm back from the point.

That will give you a basic Meifu Shinkage Ryu blade which is a good, all-around bo shuriken. I brought a bunch back from Japan and they are nice, but you can make your own for a tiny fraction of the price.

Shuriken are not knives: they don't need to be heat treated or polished.
Do be sure to check the weight and match them all as cloesly as possible.
Throwing shuriken of different weight and dimensions is bad.
