I know this is sacrilege and...

Bark River makes a great knife. They even did a production run of a Fiddleback Forge Recluse a few years back. But you're comparing a production knife shop with a small hand made shop.

I'm not sure how you've come to the conclusion that a BRK&T knife is of better quality than a Fiddleback if you haven't used a Fiddleback.

There's a reason we're riveted to the computer.

My sentiments exactly.

Both companies make great knives, but the production of the knives themselves is a bit different.

Both are worth the asking price.

I'm not sure this was the best place to ask this question, but the good folks here will give you honest advice.

I don't own a Bark River so I cannot comment on their knives.

My attraction to Fiddleback came because I respected Andy in the Shop forum. I like to make all kinds of things, including knives, and I thought that his responses were honest and very very smart. I'd seen Fiddleback knives over the years, but when I saw mist's Kephart it was done. After talking to Andy by pm's I knew that even though I really wasn't sure about carrying a fixed blade (had to check cali laws) I knew that I wanted some of his work. Turns out California has some really great laws. Open carry, but no restrictions otherwise.

A lot of sheath makers get their start because they need a sheath for themselves. That was the case for me. This forum has some of the very best sheath makers so it seemed that I'd found a great group of guys, and I wasn't wrong. I frequent a few other forums, but I stay here for the camaraderie and the friends I've made behind the scenes.
