I know what i want

Kershaw rake (composite d2 edge like a cheaper zt 0350!)$85ish, zt 0200 154 cm $140ish very tank like.

they have a 3.5 and a 4.0 inch one on amazon. Witch would fit the hand more comfortable for a 6'2 persons hand.

I don't own either, heck I've never even handled one. I've just heard a lot of good stuff about them. The handle looks pretty simple as far as shape and all that, so I think either would work, unless you have xl hands or something. The handle on the 3.5 in blade is 4.75 in long, which is about the same as a para 2 if that helps you at all.

helps alot i got a para 1 and it fits fine, similar in size to the blur witch is a good feeling in the hand knife.

ZT 0350 and Hogue are on the list so far, ill probablly order tomorrow afternoon since im getting a pretty solid feeling on both those knives. And i think i could rock either of them for a while, but keep the suggestions coming.

CRKT Folding Pocket Razel

Any of the CS Recons, or a Spartan if you really need to overcompensate.

Benchmade Griptilian. Don't let the blade thickness fool you.

Kershaw Cryo, if you want to go smaller. Impressed me, so far, although I'm still waiting to see if the Speedsafe survives the dust....

yea i work in dust and dirt and speedsafe scares me i feel like it could fail because of that.

Check the Cold Steel Recon 1 out before you pop for that Hogue. Don't watch their videos, search here on the forum. CS gets some hate for their choice of steel, and their marketing strategy. But the knives are real. And cheaper than Hogue.

Aus 8 just don't cut it man, when I use my knife at work aus 8 is dull by lunch time I need to hold a good edge at least all day until I get home. And I dont even hard cut with it aus 8 just loses its razor sharpness too fast and that's what I need at work to cut the shrink wrap. If it isn't razor sharp it'll just stretch it.

If you like the size and ergos of the Rajah 3 you just got use that and just touch it up every 4 days or so on you Sharpmaker. I just touched up my Large Voyager after a couple weeks of good use indoors and outdoors and belly would still shave before I started. Usually I go about 4-6 days just to keep routine to touch up any folders or kitchen knives used. Just a few passes on fine stone each side.

Doubt most of the more expensive options will be more tank-ish, just give you another day or two before touch up unless you are cutting lots of cardboard or carpet all day, every day

I like my rajah but I used it today at work at it dulled very fast that and the back lock wasn't what id call ideal either id much prefer a liner or frame or something that can be shut one handed much easier and quicker, I don't feel comfortable pushing the lock and dropping the blade on my finger

The absolute best value in this price range is the spyderco Gayle Bradley. Much beefier than it looks in pics but a great slicer. Materials and fit and finish of knives costing several times more. The m4 blade steel blows away just about everything in taking and holding an extremely fine edge. It is not stainless though, so unless you like patina it will need a bit of oil now and then, honestly, its a very minor inconvenience that comes along with m4's spectacular performance. The gb really is just an absolutely excellent knife and one that will serve you better than most for your year of carry bet. Good luck finding the right one.

I agree the Hogue would be a great choice. I have been dying to get one for quite some time. The ZT 0350 is a tank of a knife for sure. The 0550 is similar but maybe a little upgraded. Of course they are not the same knives; can't go wrong with either.

I'm also for the Houge. Recently received one and it didn't take me too long to realize what a tank this thing is. My only problem was the clip, but STR is taking care of that! ;)

My pick would be Benchmade 275 for bump in edge retention over CS folders but still tank strong and somewhat reasonable price. Handle is good size and shape for actual work where a lot are very thin and designed more for pocket carry instead of use out of pocket.

you guys missed the spend as little as possible part I'm guessing

It's all relative, and he didn't initally put a cap on it.
Without the "little as possible" there, I might've said XM-18 instead. SO the 0551 is a bargain.
He also didn't say folder. Nearly any current Becker could fill the bill, if OP can carry it every day where he lives/works.

At about $150, I went with an M4 Manix2. Would also strongly consider a Gayle Bradley.

You need razor sharp for a long time, built to withstand all sorts of abuse (do a search for gayle bradley hard on this forum), the answer is clearly the gayle bradley is what you are looking for. Brand new you can get it under 140 used but in great shape 100-120. there you go. You simply won't get better steel in a better package than that.
