I have been a wearer of sandals for ages. Somehow, there's nothing like a pair of sandals for walking on all kinds of surfaces.

Shoes are fine but sometimes they can be a bit too uncomfortable when the journey is longer than expected.

Sandals are the IN-thing for me. I think the Romans knew about the advantages of wearing sandals, too. :)

I'm the same way, in season. Lots of guys go for hefty Doc-Marten style boots; I say, let my toes wiggle!

Nope, hate the water, hate the beach!

this thread is funny, it feels much more like and admission than a announcement to say that "I like Sandals!"

Funny.

me too! love wearing flip flops, slippers, sandals....from $5 Bata thongs to Chaco sandals!!!

I've got a pair of Rockport sandals that have lasted nearly 8 years of almost daily wear. They have a genuine Vibram sole and leather uppers. They have been soaked in salt water and sand on a regular basis and the only repair needed has been new velcro on the straps. Since I commenced my semi-retired lifestyle my feet have broadened to the point that I can no longer wear any of my old dress shoes. Bare feet or sandals for me.

I confess that I went one step further with this sandal thing. Recently, I began acquiring cobbler's tools to repair my own sandals and shoes.

My uncle thought I must be flat broke or something like that since I can't seem to afford another pair of shoes/sandals.

Little does he know that I get great satisfaction from repairing an old pair of shoes/sandals which have seen many a day on the road with me!

Good Evening All-

Sandals are perfectly fine at home or at the beach....beyond those scenarios, they are pretty much useless.

Limited ability to run, minimal protection from septic cuts & abrasions, and a somewhat sissified appearance are a few of the major disadvantages to this footwear. No flame intended, just my $0.02.

Yeah, we all live in our birkenstock sandals around here, or once a year when it snows for an hour we might put on our birki boots, get em from birkenstock express George

I've seen Sherpa's in Nepal carry huge loads up and down the sides of mountains wearing home made sandals. They only wear shoes (cheap chinese made sneakers) when well above the snow line. Sissies? I don't think so.

Funny how culture and fashion changes however. A few years back, if any male wore long shorts and sandals he would have been immediately labelled gay (not that there anything wrong with that:D) Now they are de-riguer everywhere.........and now anyone wearing short shorts is called a fag.......

I think I like sandals because they free my feet. I am barefoot at least 90% of the time and have been so for 4-5 years. It seems to me that my feet have become a sensory instrument. Wearing shoes for more than a few hours feels stifling and restrictive. Sandals allows me to appear in society without looking like a complete hippy while still being able to 'breathe'.

I'm a big sandal fan as well. During the summer months I rarely put shoes on. My favorites are Chacos. Easy in and out with out the noisy velcro, great fit, and replaceable Vibram soles.

I'm in sandals all summer, here's my reviews.

Birkenstocks- pricey and don't last very long(1 season),but very comfortable. Poor in any kind of tactical situation.

Tevas- better tactically,still pricey,two season.

RJ Colt- These have been my everyday sandals for the last three summers,I'm sure they'd last another three if my puppy hadn't got hold of 'em. I bought em at costco for $9. Solid all leather, rubber soled, two buckle design with a heel strap better tactically than Birks.

Sandles saved my ass one time. I was in a car accident (fell asleep, hit telephone pole) And if i hadnt been wearing sandles, which the sole got ripped away (Found up in dash later on) Id have probly gotten my leg stuck and had more damage then a huge ass cut from the brake release.

Buncha tree hugging hippies with your sandals and loose morals. :p

If you like flip flops, try Redleys. I wore a pair five years hard, finally broke a strap, took them back to the store I bought them at, they called the rep, gave me a brand new pair ! They did remind me however that the guarantee was only good for six months, so I probably will have to spring for a new pair in a few years, but what great customer service !

hahahaha......my wife always calls my Chaco's my "tree hugging hippie sandals". She hates them! They are soooo comfy though, I love them.

Chaco love! :) All the way till Winter!!! :D

Then it's Merrell Mocs

Added: Black Z1 Terrenos, Still look good after a year!

I hadn't owned a pair of sandals for years and decided to buy a pair if the Z2 Terrenos. They aren't that hard to fit and really are comfortable.

The only problem I had was on vacation last month. We were in Zion Canyon, Utah and did a hike called Angels Landing. 2.5 Miles with a
pretty good elevation gain. Coming down the toe strap really did a number on my big toes. Couldn't get the Chacos on for several days.
Luckily my Montail hikers went on fine and I was able to finish out the week.

By the way. I've been to some pretty nice places, but southern Utah was the best. No people and miles of open spaces.
