I think it may be a way to keep a blade looking good longer as it is used. The Satin blades do start to get scratched as soon as you use them. The common criticism is that it can oxidize faster due to increased surface area of all of the tiny hills and valleys. I don't know how big a deal this is with Infi, which is IMO already pretty damned resistant to rust. It is a nice looking finish on a good sized blade. Mine is tanker and blue/black G10 but my G10 is way different than that ,the blue is darker and there is much more black than blue ????
