Hi all,

I have learned so much on this site whether it's reading up on reviews or just looking at pictures of knives and doing research etc. For this reason I would like to ask you guys, what kind of EDC, pocketable fixed blades out there that I do not know of, let me also open this up to karambit style knives also. I have the Bk-11, Ka bar TDI, and CRKT's 3" tanto fixed blade. What other EDC fixed blades are out there that you guys think may catch my uses as a EDC fixed blade?

A couple that I like are the Graham Razel and the Dozier Arkansas Toothpick.
I also like the Bud Nealy Pesh Kabz but I haven't been carrying it recently.

I carry a Scroggs custom boot knife I bought at the Plaza Cutlery store in Costa Mesa. It has a very cool sheath system that can be modified to a lot of different carry methods even neck carry. CPM 3v blade
I use this knife as a potential back up to my handgun so it is weapon first tool second, I do open the occasional envelop or cut a pizza slice whit it. it a very wonderful knife, if you ever get a chance to find one.

Hey ! Check out the Boker/Krein Pocket Bowie. It is made in China so if that bugs you then nevermind but , if it doesnt then it is definatly worth a look. My fiance bought me one as part of my Valentine's present and I love the little knife. They are very inexpensive and the sheath is done rather well , considering I hate kydex style sheaths.

Not a bad buy at all. :)

CRKT made the Ryan Plan B some years ago , that is my favorite defense oriented smallish fixed blade. You might be able to score one of those still , and the sheath is once again , done pretty well.

The Bark River PSK is quite small, and with a leather pocket sheath is pretty comfortable. It's not much of a knife, but it's sharp.
Another option I like is a kiridashi. I just got one yesterday, it's 1/4" thick, 4.5" long, and has a leather sheath. It fits nice in my pocket, and is great for lots of cutting tasks, not all tasks I admit. It just feels like a real piece of steel in my hand, not a small whimpy knife.

Another vote for the ESEE Izula here. It's a truly fantastic knife. Tough, and takes and keeps a great edge.

The Dirk Pinkerton designs from Meyerco are great, as well.

There's a lot of great scandi grind knives, as well, such as the Brusletto Balder and the extremely popular Moras.

There's certainly the ESEE Izula, which has quite a following here. The Becker Eskabar is kind of a cross between the Izula and BK-11. And the Swamp Rat Warden is similar in function to those two. Also take a look at the Buck Mayo Kaala, great looking s30v EDC fixed blade. Ontario is supposedly coming out with a new fixed karambit, but I can't seem to find much info on it.

^ I like ontarios karambit but for $140 too much for a strictly defensive blade. Is not the Izula pretty darn similar to my BK-11? I'll take a look at the swamp rat warden.

I like small fixed blades for carrying in the pocket. Here are a few of my favorites:

This one is by Pat Sheehan. I don't know who originally ordered this, but it's a great little knife; good balance, usefull shape, sharp as heck.

This little blade from W. Pease was pretty rough when I first picked it up, but I sent it back to him and he cleaned it up. Since then it's my most used carry knife.

I bought this Terry Lee as much for the sheath as for the knife. It's perfect in a set of dress slacks; no telltale at all.

And I've been wanting one of Dan Cowles little pocket blades for quite a while. Ordered this one last Blade, Chris Maloof's just finished the engraving. Its goning to be my fancy carry piece.

Don't just look at production knives. There are some really good deals if you look around in customs.

It depends. If you are trained in the use of the karambit, it's a very wicked self defense knife. I don't know if you're looking at a fixed or folder. You can get much larger with a fixed karambit. For an all purpose knife it's not so good as it's a dedicated fighting knife.

What do you guys think about a Esse RC 3 in orange as a pocket carry knife?

It's kinda bulky but light for a fixed blade of it's size. I've carried mine a few times that way and you'll know it's in there but hey, whatever feels good for you right? I think it's better to lash it to your belt loops or figure out the way that you like to tie it off the best.

The sheath is surrounded with holes to allow you a lot of options in carrying without using the full sheath. I don't like that attachment for boot/pocket carry with the plastic clip on it but YMMV. :)

Hi Glock. Seems you are in CA. Please remember in CA, fixed blades cannot be concealed and could be a felony. Be careful out there.

12020. (a) Any person in this state who does any of the following is punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year or in the state prison:

(4) Carries concealed upon his or her person any dirk or dagger.
...
(24) As used in this section, a "dirk" or "dagger" means a knife or other instrument with or without a handguard that is capable of ready use as a stabbing weapon that may inflict great bodily injury or death.
