I lost my CPK EDC on a farm!

For about 15 minutes...

So what's the story? Did you set it down after using it to cut something, did you lose the whole sheath ... ? We need to glean some wisdom from your experience so that those of us less blessed with luck can avoid such occurrences.

I've had knives yanked out of my pockets a couple of times but usually noticed the occurrence and simply had to train my brain to react to the sensation/sound instead of proceeding on whatever task I was engaged in.
I've also trained myself to always put my fixed blade BACK in its sheath or folder back in my pocket after having it out. If I'm gutting a deer in the snow and need to set the knife down, I wipe it and sheath it and worry about giving it all a good cleaning later. If I'm playing with my knife on the john, I gotta put it back in my pocket and not set it on the toilet-paper or something stupid like that :p Those have been my recent close-calls and the lessons I've learned from them.

Ahh, as I reread my post, I see that I accidentally left that info out.

I had on a pair of cargo type shorts. Except behind the big side pocket, it had a slender pouch pocket that fits the factory sheath "just right", well, at least I thought it did.
I was using the factory sheath loose in the pocket at knee height, so I felt it bouncing as I walked as a security measure. But once I was accustomed to it, it seemed to disappear and when it was pulled out, I didn't notice...

As far as I can tell, when I was scooting between overgrown tomato plants, one of the limbs must have snagged the fob that I have on the knife. It is a basic button knot on the end of a 1.5" loop, nothing big or extravagant, but apparently enough to get caught...

Below are a few pics of the knife and fob:

Ahh... So what do you think? Ditch the fob, or not use that pocket like that, and make sure the sheath is secured to you...?

I will continue using both stock and a crossdraw that I made.
If the knife is in the stock sheath and in the pocket, I will have a cord securing it to my belt.
The fob will remain on since it helps with drawing the knife from both sheaths.

Grats on finding it again!

I once stepped out of my truck after parking in my driveway and looked down to see a Shirogorov NeOn in my grass.

I then checked my pocket and realized it was mine!

I had come home after work but the wife me to get groceries. I think that my seatbelt knocked it loose and it fell out when I got out. Then I went back out, returned and saw it. Whew.

That woulda been expensive.

I was hoping not to have to admit this to anybody, but considering the title I may as well confess.
2 weeks ago I lost my entire triple aught design backpack full of survival gear. 900 fill down jacket, hammock, my Swiss Army tool and expensive compass, paracord, first aid stuff, my personally customized GS06 with Ironwood scales in a Sagewood sheath and my great eastern Cutlery 79 in stag. There were other odds and ends in that backpack as well. I literally had sold off all of my entire knife collection which consisted of about 15 other knives. I narrowed it down to the gec 3 blade 79 I liked best.
Lost in the woods forever.

I really loved that little 79, strange how how much I miss it.
:(
Damn... I know that the 79 was one you were planning on having for the long haul. I am sorry to hear of your loss.

I would put up some fliers at the parking lot or trail head. Offer a reward and multiple ways to contact you. I would even set up a new email designated to the lost gear and have it linked to your phone so you get immediate notifications.

So many of you are just clumsy and/or stupid. How could anyone of intellect lose a knife? I have, however, lost myself a couple of times (thankfully for only short periods, though I did not know that would be the case at the time). I think I was happier finding my way than finding my knife. ;) There are joys and worries (and sorrows) roaming the wilderness. Congrats to all of you who found your lost treasures , condolences to those who have not :(-YET :D

I lost my leatherman wave after fishing and a bbq with some work friends. I looked everywhere for it but couldn't find it. I tore my whole house apart looking for it. I waited for over a year to order a new one because i was convinced that I would find it. Literally the day after i ordered a new one i found it in a bag of fishing lures that had fallen into my spare tire well in my trunk. So now i have two haha

Glad you found your edc, id hate to lose mine

The temporary loss of a valued item was the universe's way of telling you how evil and wrong it is to grow or harvest cilantro (or Satan's parsley, as I call it). Blech! :D The other stuff is okay, but cilantro tastes like something that might grow under the toilet seat in a gas station bathroom.

Oh man Methuselah, I hope some way that comes back to you. I know I'd be sick.

One lost story and one found story.

Lost, Turkey hunting this spring, first trip out with a new Lionsteel M4. Whittled one stick to spear sardines out of the can and then drove away with it on the back bumper of my Samurai. Someone on a motorbike picked it up out of the road before I made the connection to where I had lost it :(

Found, Cruising timber in Montana and found an old Western hatchet and knife combo. Still serviceable, but the sheath is pretty rough :D Very cool though.

Here's hoping everyone's lost blades come home!!

If you aren't a fan of Cilantro, try Papalo as a substitute. It can be swapped into a lot of recipes that call for Cilantro, even though it has a different taste and is more peppery. Great for cutting through cheeses and works great with roasted poblanos.

Yup..and now my prized edc's are now carried in belt sheaths.
Looks like you grow the hot stuff..me too.
Ghost peppers, Moruga Scorpions, Fatalii..etc

My name and phone number we're all in the bag.

I seldom lose a knife. But I misplace the damn things a good bit. I go into convulsions if it's my regular SAK that I carry all the time even though I know I have three more just like it sitting on the shelf ready to take over when the current one is gone.

I misplace crap all the time. I believe it's a don't pay attention thing.... wallet or car keys bug the living daylights out of me as do misplaced flashlights even though I own a pile of them. Believe it or not, I misplace guns too. Sometimes weeks go by and I find one in my truck under some stuff. I was told by an officer I really needed to pay more attention to the firearms. Naahh. I just keep rolling along.

I don't grow them, but I pick them at a local farm.

My daughter (3 y.o.) likes to help in the garden and she just takes bites of anything she can get her hands on. If it is fruit or veg, it is fair game for her. Due to this, I choose to keep the heat out.
