I've been in this hobby for many years and I never lost a single knife until recently. A mint condition new to me GEC 14 and an almost new Chaparral LW fell out of my pants pocket one week and my jacket pocket another.

I stupidly didn't use the clip on the spydie and the GEC was in a shallow pants pocket so I can see why they ended up lost but it still friggin sucks. Such an idiot...

Just needed to vent but I would like to hear if anyone lost one that really hurt. Maybe it will make me feel better.

Thanks all!

Sorry to hear buddy. I have memory problems and lose my knives all the time. Usually they turn up. They usually fall in the cushions on my couch or chair and even my car. Hope yours turn up or are returned to you

Lost a few in my time. So I only bought knives I felt I could lose and be ok with. In the last few years I have been increasing my taste. I now have some that if I lost I believe I would lose my mind. I would replace them but man it would really hurt my feelings. Hope you find them between the seat and the center console of your car or maybe under the couch when you were putting on the shoe. A few have turned up months later in the weirdest places for me. Places i swear i looked 3-4times before.

Sorry to hear that, I think I have lost an El cheapo knife long ago in similar fashion, but has been using pocket slip for all my in pocket carry ever since.

The only pocket knive I ever lost was my Swiss Army my father bought for me for my 16th birthday. I can't remember for sure but from looking at the different models names I believe it was a Swiss Camp or something like that. I know I mainly wanted it because my shop teacher had pulled his out one day in class to dig a splinter out of his hand and I was amazed at how many different things they could stick into a medium sized pocket knife. However that was around the time I started drinking quite heavy and I manged to loose it one crazy evening along with several hours of time of witch neither has ever returned.:confused:o_O Sure glad I gave up drinking considering the price of some of the knives I buy today. :D

Buckaroo pouches help on that lost from the pocket deal:

They stay put in the pocket. Need your knife pull on the thong, squeeze the bottom of the pouch and the knife comes out. Leave the pouch dangling while you are using the knife. All done back in the pouch and back in the pocket.

Sorry to hear of your loss!

This was supposed to be a reply to comis, but I was too slow replying.
I usually carry a mini-trapper as my knife "for squeamish people" in a leather slip I made. Very easy to make a pocket slip (not nearly as pretty looking as a commercial made slip like Horsewright's fine creations) and if I can do it, anyone should be able to as well. I have never had one fall out of dress pants using a pocket slip (but then again I never lost one that wasn't in a slip either).

I like the little GEC #14 with a clip blade. Nice little knife.

In general, I mostly misplace knives. For example, I bought a GEC #86 in December and for the life of me, I don't know where I stashed it inside it's tube. They always turn up.

Never throw out a piece of upholstered furniture without tearing it down. Knives and things slide to the darkest crevices. Keep the faith they’ll turn up.

Sound advice.

Was helping a buddy move one time. Got to the couch, and I took all of the cushions off before moving the frame. Found 1/8 ounce of Columbian Gold.

The afternoon was a bit less productive than the morning, but it was an enjoyable afternoon of moving nonetheless.

Maybe this will help. I "lost" a custom folder, but it turned up after about a year. I know it's a long shot. Just use pouches and other safety measures in the future.

No, you may not borrow my knife. :D

Sorry to hear that. I've only lost two that I can recall. One was actually stolen off of my front porch when I was a kid and I cant find my blaze orange Mora Companion HD... Must've lost it in the move.

Say your prayers. Do some good deeds. Go find a fun replacement and carry it with care.

I feel your pain brother. I lost a ffkw/drop dao the other day. I’m pretty sure my son threw it in the trash, he’s 18mo and likes to help clean up. He thinks everything on my nightstand belongs in the trash apparently and the knife was missed or overlooked by my wife.

I’ve lost some but most of the time they just get misplaced.

The ones that really hurt are those that are stolen or have great sentimental value.

I would gladly give up any knife I own to have my old old Buck 112 Ranger back. I carried it when my father and I went hunting. The knife was stolen by some low life.

My treasured Enzo PK70 just disappeared last Sunday.
I think I might have dropped it at my son’s rugby club.
So replaced it with a Manly Wasp S90V.
