I love it when people sell what they don't know

I was out and about and I went to this indoor fleamarket.

Some guy was selling a bunch of knives that he had no idea what they were worth at all. He had all these crap fantasy pieces for 30 and 40 bucks and here's my haul.

They all need some tender loving care, but who cares when it's the good stuff.

Ok, first up is an old Ka-Bar mariners rigging knife I'm not sure what they go for, but I paid 15 bucks for it

The Benchmade Elishiwitz folder that I paid 8 bucks for.

Kershaw Blackout, looks like it got dumped in some goop, needs a good bath and an oiling, hardly even used, I paid 10 for that one.

CRKT M-16 folder, I'm sending it in just to see what their customer/warrenty service is like. If they don't do squat, who cares I paid 7 for that one.

Gerber Applegate Fairbain folder. I'm going to send this one in too, try to get the thumbstud back on it. (another one I paid 10 bucks for)

Now the expensive one. AG Russell Bird and Trout Knife. Like the Canadian survival knife. I like this one and it's going into my backpack.

And a Boker FixedBlade, that's probibly going to be given away as a christmas present due to it being in really good condition.

The guy there still had more for sale and I'm considering going back to clean him out of all the good stuff still.

Yay!

I'm not sure if I do want to get rid of the rigging knife. I like it a lot more than my cheap one that is made in china, I'm always afraid that one will fall apart on me if I'm using it to undo some knots, or splice some lines.

But I could be inclined. (I kind of want some decent sized marlin spikes for throwing)

How long ago did AG Russell market a knife like that with his own brand?

Ok, if you decide to sell it let me know........ :)

PS/ Post # 1000 for me ........... ;)

Well I'm thinking that this was built in 1958, becuase that's what the tang stamp says on the back. (on the front it says Russell Belt Knife Canada)

Those kind of days are great. I usually enjoy the garage sales. I have to bite my tongue when I find a great buy and find out they want 1/10th of the value. I usually bring my own canvas bag to estate sales so I can snatch up the items I want to purchase. Way to go!

That's not an AG Russell knife; it's a D.H. Russell knife. ;)

Cool. Sounds like you got some good deals and the seller got what he wanted too. I like it when capitalism works.

I went to a flea market near me seeling a Leathermans for $5. I can't remember which they were, I think a few were of Charge TTIs, I am not positive though. Didn't have money to buy them. The odd thing, though, is he had the ones you get at the dollar store for $10. (The ones with the mini LED on them)

Congratulations!

I love it when you can get a good deal because people don't know what they're selling, but I hate it when people complain about quality when they don't know what they're BUYING.

Benchmade Elishewitz at the flea market for $8?

Nah, no chance at all that it's hot...none at all.

Thanks; I've no intention to sell or use mine, its a bit of a family heirloom.
I understand completely. I have a dozen or more knives that aren't worth a nickel, but I'll never sell them because they're MINE! :D

How about when people buy what they don't know? Do you love that too?
The irony didn't escape me either, but I bit my tongue. Check post #9 above.

It's in pretty rough condition, as evident in the photo above.
