I love my Izula

Im also waiting for something good to come up in the exchange,
what do you guys think would piss off the owner of an orange izula and a junglas?

Only little girls play with orange izula's and real men can take down a forest with a ESEE-3, No need for a Junglas

huh.gif

arcstarter, i agree with you 100%

The orange izula is for my little 7 year old cousin, and the junglas is for my poor old great grandfather to slice bread with.

Lololol

No wonder they closed the esee forum :D ha ha. And if you pay msrp for your knives, then more power to ya. I sure as hell don't. Only thing I've paid msrp on was my tanto large sebenza and let me tell ya, had there been someone selling it cheaper, I wouldn't have

I'm just saying that knives like The Bechmark Backpacker(Which comes with good micarta grips), the becker necker, the eskabar, and the schrade extreme survival neck knife are all much cheaper and are all made of 1095. 50 bucks to me is not out of my price range but for what you are getting I think they are overpriced.

Agreed.

The becker necker is marginally cheaper from what I've seen. Direct competition. You need to shop more ha ha

but only the izula has rowen's fantastic heat treat and the ESEE backed warranty.

You'll soon learn that just because two knives are made of the same steel, it does NOT mean that they will perform the same.

Some of what you are paying for is the heat treat that rowen does with the 1095. Heat treat is just as important, if not more, than steel choice.

Don't believe me? Go grab a buck vantage select in 420hc - heat treated by Paul Bos, and tell me that you aren't surprised. ;)

Very true! ^

I own both the ESEE Izula, and the Becker BK-11, both 1095 steel but the Becker literally gets dull just by putting it in its sheath and taking it back out. The Izula holds an edge FAR, FAR better in my experience. Very noticeable difference.

I think $40 is a pretty good deal for the Izula. There are neckers that I definately like better but they all cost more than that little ESEE knife.

Don't buy it directly from ESEE, it's much cheaper elsewhere. Most manufacturers don't compete with their dealers and sell at MSRP.

In fact, they'd rather you didn't buy it from them. They are very supportive of their dealership network and from my experience, they have a very good one. I have dealt with three (two Internet, one local mom and pop) and all were seriously good people.

The ESEE folks have enough to deal with keeping their quality high (100% successful so far:thumbup:) and dealing with the whole "the Izula is too small, the Junglas is too big (or not big enough), the 5 is too thick" stuff they have to hear constantly.

Izula is not only a tough little customer but it is very ergonomic and handy to use in place of the much sought after but seldom found..."tough use folder". Nice thing about the Izula, it is 100% guaranteed to pass the spine whack test 100% of the time;)

You guys are lucky - I'm about to pull the trigger on an Izula here in Johannesburg. It's costing me the equilalent of 100 US dollars!

In fact I could have double the collection I have now if I were paying what you guys pay.

I love my Izzy. Excellent knife for an even better price. I'm not sure where all of you who said it was overpriced are shopping, but you are definitely looking in the wrong places if you think the Izzy is expensive.

I carry mine every day, and haven't even thought about buying another folder. The Izzy is that great, making folders obsolete (as far as I'm concerned anyways).
