I love the Opinel.

I've got a 10-Opinel box on its way in the next week or so... can't wait! I've been especially looking forward to seeing the little wee ones. The no. 12 should be interesting too.

In OZ , any decent outdoors type store seems to stock Opinel. Its probly the only brand I ca think of that is cheaper in a store.

The No.12 is great , kinda like a foldable kitchen knife. I like the effile model too.

I have a No.4 inbound- less than 5 bucks, free shipping. I have no idea what size it is, but I figure for the money...

no.4 is one of the mini opinels , 4 or 5 cm blade no lock , friction folder , like the kind of knife you would put in the smokes pocket of a jacket etc , did you get the steel or stainless blade ?

High carbon, thanks for the info. SMKW had their free shipping sale last weekend and I put an order in for all the cheap stuff I'd otherwise have to pay more for shipping than the product...

Just got a No. 8 gardner in the other week, first Opi, these knives are Awesome! mind you the round grip is throwing me for a loop and I already accidently let my hand slip onto the blade, too much time with my emerson and delica, love the opi, already started 2 conversations just from people seeing it.

Where'd you get an Opinel box? I know of lots of people who'd want one if I got one.

A Canadian site called Knife Zone... ain't many Canuck sites I could find that offer the box. I looked at trying to get individual Opinels in the smaller sizes through eBay, but add shipping and it ultimately didn't seem cost effective.

(plus, I got burned on eBay once after "winning" an auction on a similar box!)

I love opinels! The carbon steel takes and holds fantastic edge and the inox models are respectable as well. An opinel au carbon could accomplish 99.9% of the tasks I use a pocket knife for. Love em.

There was an episode of Poh's Kitchen (Poh was on Australian MasterChef) on ABC where Ian Parmenter pulled out a #12. You wouldn't think someone used to 12" chef knives would react but Poh's eyes nearly popped out
when Ian opened the knife - that Opinel is huge when open because of the extra length of the handle :p

Team a #12 with the folding saw and you're set for camping. Here's my pigeon pair with a custom twin pouch - they're just a bit too big to sit comfortably in my pockets

That's a really cool setup. I think I'm gonna look into that folding saw.

Thank you. Pouch was made by a local craftworker (originally from Germany) - her interpretation of my concept

I've never picked one up yet, even though the prices are so cheap! I might order one when i order some new stuff soon. I really like them.

Very nice custom mods. I have 2 No.9 carbons, one new model one old. That handle is very easy to customize.

I gave my #8 Carbon to my nephew for his birthday. It is just such a great knife! It's replacement should be here Monday. I think I'm gonna take this one apart and try to give it a good "water proofing".

YAY!
