I love the Sage 1

I just picked up a Sage I and I am completely blown away by the fit and finish. The twill CF has to be one of my fav handle materials ever - I really hope they do more with this. And it's so smooth it flicks open like nothing. Everything from the shape and sharpness of the blade to the polished liners and wire clip are exceptional. I've had a few Spydies (smaller ones) in the past but this just fueled a fire that I see getting expensive in a hurry .... bring on more sypdies :) (I"m waiting on a blacked out military and SE native and a pimped Phoenix as we speak...)

It's probably best to get the Sage2 first. If you get the Sage1 first then buy the 2, you'll wonder why the Sage2 costs so much more. Don't get me wrong, they're both worth every penny, but the Sage1 is just a steal for what it usually goes for.

As am I, but I did a little to it.

Whoa man, I don't know if I'd want that done to my Sage1 but it sure does get me excited! Nice work. I noticed the jimping towards the front of the handle also.
My Sage1 goes everywhere with me unless I have tighter pockets on, then I grab the Sage2 or Caly3 CF.

Best knife ever! After about a month or two of owning it, the Sage 1 has put all of my other folders out of work. Higher quality materials and less blade play than my Benchmades, and less blade play/slightly better ergos than my Japanese-made Lum Chinese. All great knives, but holy shit is the Sage 1 a slam dunk.

On a side note, I used to ride BMX for years and years when I was younger. Everybody always liked to brag about American made bike frames, but a select few companies started dealing with very reputable Taiwanese manufacturing companies, and the results trumped almost everything produced here. I feel Spyderco has gone the same route, and you can't argue with results.

after using this for a month I really have to say this is a great knife. It didn't come as sharp as my Delica 4FFG or my later purchased manix 2, but with some TLC it works great. This is my most carried spydie.

I want a Sage 2 (then a military, and then a stretch, and then a paramilitary 2)

Sounds like you too have "been poisend" by Spyderco
They are just great to use and collect...by the way there is only one way to get cured..............get more Spydercos:D

Question for you Sage lovers.............Have you ever had a problem with the retention of the wire pocket clip?
I recently took part in the Sage2 passaround. I really like the knife, however the clip seemed as if it didn't hold the knife securely in place and it could easily come unclipped and fall out!
I was just wanting some input from some real users of this knife!!!

My clip actually bent away from the handle about 1" within the first week or so of owning it. Didn't get caught on anything either, it bent that way just from being clipped in pocket and me sitting at a funny angle. Fortunately it was easy enough to fix, just took off the clip and bent the part that screws into the handle back with some pliers. Now it has more retention than when it came from the factory.

I would imagine after though after too many bends it would start to permanently lose retention, and you would most likely need a new clip at that point.

I haven't had issues with mine yet, but while I do carry it almost everyday, I don't clip it with my work clothes (just leave it in the pocket) so that would slow down wearing.

I've never had a problem with the wire clip but I have noticed the Sage1 has better clip grip than the Sage2 due to the textured Carbon Fiber handle. IMO it's the perfect amount of retention but it doesn't tear up a pocket like some FRN handles or my BM griptillian.

I'd concur and add that I'd rate the Sage 2's clip retention as comparable to that of the three screw clips on the titanium versions of the C46 Lum Tanto and C07 Police, both of which have a similar finish.

I wonder if a piece of shrink tubing over the wire might give it more grip.

I agree that the Ti is probably the reason.....it did slide around easily.

That's a great idea.....
I bet the G-10 version is going to be perfect.

A general question regarding both the sages. Would the Titanium framelock be significantly stronger than the linerlock? Or are they built to the same strength levels?
