I love the Spyderco Shaman!

it is plain when i can open my knife drawer and see several g10 and s30v blades as its been done to death and its safe... i don't want safe anymore.

I don't mind plain. I actually like black g10 - I'll take it over a colored variant any day of the week. Would I like 20cv? Yes! My only knock on this knife is it deserves something more than s30v. S30v isn't bad by any means but to be competitive it could use an upgrade. With all that being said I love this knife even without a better steel - it's a great design. I carry it over my sprint run PM2/3s most days.

Pretty sad when people consider G10 and CPM S30...."Plain".
I don't care if they do a sprint or not, and without intending to sound snarky, it won't hurt my feelings if a lot of people miss out waiting for special instead of enjoying an outstanding offering. <shrug>

it's tough to miss out on a production folder... I can live without it as its just not enticing enough for me to buy.

If you aren't using/carrying one, then essentially you're missing out.
If its not enticing enough then it's hard to believe that moderately better steel and a higher price could draw you in.
Although I kinda get it, the PM2 is popular and I'm sure its great, but it doesn't do anything for me. But of course there's no sprint run or magic steel that would make it appeal to me more.

I'm not an advocate of S30v steel. I'm fine with it but I do prefer others but I love the package that the Shaman offers. I like my Pm2 a lot and my Para 3 is pretty cool too but the Shaman is my favorite. Cruwear, 4v, 20cv etc would get my money along with some G10 or micarta (no CF for me).

I can honestly say different scales and blade material are more appealing to me than the standard black g10 and s30v regardless of price.

For me the ergonomics on the Shaman and thick blade stock more than make up for the plain steel and G10.
