I love yew BK15

First time I saw the title of this thread I though yew made a typo. Nice scales!

Those turned out really nice. What other type woods do you like for scales?

Thanks! That's only the second set I've made, so my experiences for knife scales is limited. I made a cedar handle for a BK14 that came out pretty, but cedar is a bit too soft. I'm working on a set of scales for my modified BK11 now out of osage orange. Osage orange is definitely my favorite wood to use for walking sticks because it's about the toughest, most durable wood species in the US, but so far it's a bear to work with on little stuff. Yew was pretty easy to shape, and despite the precaution of not breathing in the sawdust, I think it's a nice combination of strength and beautiful color and grain.

Upgraded my stripped 15. I had some pieces of yew left over from a cane I made. Yew is a really pretty wood to work with, and the 15 needs some pretty wood.

Love me some modified Beckers.

Awesome work! Yew really outdid yourself there.

I'm about 99% sure that there's a 15 waiting under the tree for me at the moment... Found this thread while dreaming about stripping it and doing some custom scales of my own. Will be my first Becker, can't wait :)

It might be your 1st Becker, but I'm willing to bet it won't be your last. I hope you get your 15 for Christmas. It's an awesome knife if you plan on doing...well, anything knifey!
